November will be interesting. I think the sales will be decided on BF.

Halo and Tomb Raider will still be selling for the rest of fourth quarter. Sony has no exclusive response until March of next year for Microsoft.

That's not why MS won. Halo did little and TR did not (and won't) help. The reasons are clearly laid out in the op.

If you say so. All I know is that halo didnt do much for xb1. Not only it sold less than 1m but only moved 303k xb1 including bundle. Xb1 beat ps4 by a miserable 30k. TR wont do much. It barely made into the top 20 on amazon in its released and it has fallen to 55 in the hourly. Sure amazon isnt accurate for software but the hype for it is barely there due to having to compete against multiplayer games. If you think a console needs only exclusive to move system, you havent learned anything from this gen, Most third parties deal for sony have done a lot for the console and COD and battlefront bundle wont be the exception. Xb1 might take november but wont be as big as last year.

Edit: it has SF5 on february

Of course it did. Before Halo dropped Microsoft was struggling against Sony. This was one month guaranteed in America that Microsoft would win. Sony has no answer for Halo or anything in fourth quarter in general. Next year? Sure. The rest of this year? All hype.
The price of bundles are nearly even, especially at black friday.

The multiplat audience (as I said before) jumped ship back to Sony. This is why Sony is enjoying good upfront sales, similarly to how MS used to enjoy them last gen. Tomb Raider will sell well enough, but it was crazy for Crystal Dynamics to launch the game next to Fallout 4 which is going to wipe the holiday slate clean for November. Tomb Raider will have to rely on legs much like Halo. Microsoft will have all of those games available in bundles for Sony but Sony cant touch the fourth quarter exclusives Microsoft has (Well only one game and that exclusivity is for a year).

It helped because TR wasn't issued in October?
Confusion is strong in this one...

I don't think anyone argued in favor of sony having better exclusives for the holidays. Thing is, if MS still want to win US, they have 2 months left to cut the gap significantly because october barely did something. When I said this month is going to be interesting is because in addition to COD and battlefront bundle, there will be a 299 ps4 for BF which means sony will be more agressive than last year making it much harder for MS to make a comeback.
Regarding to tomb raider, the timing was horrible. I hope the development budget was much smaller than the first tomb raider or they gonna have a problem making a profit on xb1. SE was disappointed with the first one even though it sold more than 4m on last gen consoles. it made a profit after the reboot released on xb1 and ps4.

MS cant cut the gap, they just need to to win Novembers & Decembers NPD in America to gain ground because fourth quarter is the largest sales period in America in general. Microsoft doesnt have the brand power and in-house development level power that Sony has that helped the PS3 come back from an 8 million console differential last gen. Both consoles will have bundles at $399 (and on black friday even $300) but yes those multiplat bundles Sony is selling are compelling even though all of those games will be available to Microsoft by default. The opposite cannot be said of Sony for Microsofts bundles.
