Forums - Sony - No Man's Sky: Rumour or Masterplan?

I think it would actually be a bad idea to just drop the game on us like that. I also think it's more likely that we get a release date at PGW like Tidux said.

Here are my outside chance options:

No Man's Sky gets announced and launches immediately
No Man's Sky gets announced and as a Novembers PS+ title
No Man's Sky gets announced and launches in November as a $300 PS4 Bundle.

It could be none of the above but I feel as if something big is coming.

Any NMS release date would be pretty big news. I expect they'll also officially announce PSVR support for the game aswell.

Any of those would be cool, but they all seem pretty unlikely.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

maybe some kind of beta-surprise...

Hunting Season is done...

Although I do think the game looks really cool, and the premise behind it is really cool, I don't think the game is going to be particularly big.... so a surprise release isn't suddenly going to make people who weren't going to buy it, suddenly buy it. The game is what it is, and will sell the way it sells, regardless of some magical master plan that involves possibly releasing it early.

Remember the Saturn. Remember it well.

bet: lost

I don't think they would announce the release date of a game this big two weeks before it comes out. The reason I could be wrong is that they haven't officially stated yet that this game isn't coming til 2016. But they could just be thinking people would have assumed this by now.

Placeholder gonna placehold.

Placeholders don't usually have a placehold date that's only a few weeks away. I don't think it will happen but it would explain the talk shows Sean Murray's been on drumming up interest.

Also like others think, don't think it's a masterplan to release game with with so many huge games coming out this holiday with very little notice.... although I would personally welcome the chance to get my hands on it in the very near future.
