I take it back, Halo affect starting to peak. Also Kinect bundle is destroying it. Didn't realise there was still demand for it. For me right now, X1 is winning the month on Amazon. What's the situation at other stores?

PS4 has been ahead all month long at all retailers.

Check the monthly, it's close. PS4 has 3 bundles that count towards October spread from 25 to 46 in the ranks. Xbox is winning at 23rd. Just looking at that the PS4 is winning. Chuck in the Halo bundle preorders and that gap narrows but PS4 now is only slightly winning. Right now the X1 has 6 bundles in the top 100, and I expect that to be the same til the end of the month. Will NDC bundle at 8th plus the other to bundels at 88th and 93rd be enough?? I don't know man

Remember though when the final update happens the NDC bundle should be ahead. Were Halo 5 bundle pre orders big anyway? It never charted very high and we have Abdiel from neogaf saying pre orders were nowhere near Destiny bundle from last year. Either way, it's sure going to be fun to watch. :)

halo is #1 game in all stores and halo bundle is the best selling bundle in best buy, walmart. In walmart the top 6 bundles are x1. Also ps4 is best selling bundle in gamestop but the top 10 is full of halo

Best buy top sellers (all items): http://www.bestbuy.com/site/searchpage.jsp?browsedCategory=abcat0700000&qp=&ks=960&sp=-bestsellingsort%20skuidsaas&sc=Global&list=y&usc=All%20Categories&type=page&id=pcat17071&iht=n&cp=1&nrp=15&seeAll=&st=categoryid%24abcat0700000&lid=Products:%20All%20New%20Releases,Products:%20All%20PreOrders

Walmart Best Sellers ('consoles' all items.):   http://www.walmart.com/search/?query=consoles&sort=best_seller&soft_sort=false&cat_id=0

And GameStop (all new consoles): http://www.gamestop.com/browse/consoles?nav=28-xu0,13ffff2412-4f

Was wondering where he was seeing that.

How did you get that WM chart? There seems to be many ways it can be listed. I got this version-

http://www.walmart.com/browse/video-games/2636?cat_id=2636&facet=video_game_platform:PlayStation%204%7C%7Cvideo_game_platform:Xbox%20One

Target is the same way. They have the same items listed in different sections.

It is not the "Halo" effect but rather the buy Xbox One console and get a free game  of your choice minus Halo 5 or Assassins Creed that is going on right now and also the Xbox One+ kinect at $400.  There is a lot of good deal right now for the Xbox One is almost every retailer.

You are right, didn't notice that.

Now I am actually asking myself if MS is not going to try another firesale starting next month (next week or in 4 days), because Halo 5 launched "YESTERDAY", what is going on with all those deals? Could MS really got access to early report suggesting they are losing the month?

There is a reason why MS have triggered these deals and it's not because they are winning. What happened to Phil Spencers profit before quantity of sales?

Based on the Amazon position in August, I think it could be around 50k Halo bundle preorders going into October (previously I though higher)

Kinect bundle at 16 in the hour now. OMG what a month on amazon lol

They just know how embarrassing it will be if they lose in their home turf, with their largest exclusive launching.  They must have some early numbers and/or inside sources, and know they are either almost tied with the PS4 or behind by a decent amount.  These last minute deals are just to try to create a lead in the home stretch of the month.

By profit I think he means to sell the Halo bundle for $500. Then after everyone buys it for that price, they can drop good deals left and right. It is possible that the last minute deals were planned from the start, but if they revealed it before the $500 bundle came out then it would impact profits and sales.

Wow Microsoft is desperate to win October it seems. Guess the Christmas shopping season is getting off to an early start :)

Amazon is full of xb1 bundles now that there are some great deals for it. Might have to pick one up soon. Wonder if we'll see a $249 xb1 before Christmas?

Apparently that priority has changed now. There's really no other real strategy they have left outside of cuts and giveaways. Halo was their ace in the hole, now that's it's been released, I guess they can't rest on their laurels anymore.

Firesell has been initiated it seems. Can't wait to see how low they go this year. Seems Microsoft has no problem sacrificing profits for insane sales numbers in the holidays.

Looks like they'll comfortably win again this year and maybe even take the lead in the us if they win by a substantial amount this month with these amazing deals.
