As the holidays approach and Sony prepares for a big lineup, those that live in New York City will be getting an extra dose of PlayStation goodness all year round with the company revealing its new concert and live events venue, the PlayStation Theater.
A new post on the PlayStation Blog revealed that Sony has officially opened the PlayStation Theater and taking over Times Square’s 45,000-square foot, 2,150-capacity concert and special events venue. The renaming of the venue officially takes effect today, after the venue was previously known as the Best Buy Theater.
The PlayStation Blog notes that the partnership will include “the rebranding of all of the Theater’s interior and exterior signage, including the iconic Times Square marquee, live performances on PlayStation Network, experiential marketing initiatives, and VIP hospitality opportunities.”
With the venue hosting concerts from acts such as Bon Jovi, The Eagles, John Legend, Rihanna, and countless others alongside special events such as the annual Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve and more, the PlayStation Theater will continue to bring great live events and entertainment all year round with a tinge of the PlayStation brand – the full lineup of events, concerts, and more coming to the theater for the rest of the year can be seen here.
The PlayStation Theater is officially open starting today at Times Square in New York City – check back later as we’ll be sure to get plenty of photos and pictures of the theater for its opening day today.
