Auto saves all the way. It saves time and the worry of having to save the game in case something goes wrong like the lights go out or simply forget to save a game.

Manual is better. I prefer having control over when I want to save and also when I *don't* want to.

I prefer Auto Save, though i do like the option to manual save, just before i quit playing the game.

Depends on the game.
Linear games - Auto save
For RPG and adventure game - manual save
I like having them both. Auto saves in case I forget to save, but I really really really want a manual save system. I want to be able to save whenever I feel like it - or whenever I need to. That's why MGSV was driving me crazy.
And just to clear it up, games should in almost all cases have multiple save slots too. And not a pre-determined amount of them, but as many as the player wants. I haven't run into a situation where there would have been a legit reason to limit the number of save slots yet (with the exception of games using memory cards for save storage).
Having both options are fine for me and preferable. I hate games where you could only manual save at certain locations instead of whenever you wanted.. Like if something came up and you had to leave but you didn't find any save spots you knew you were fucked and your best chance was to keep the console on until you came back.
