They are both games, played for fun or competitively by children and adults alike that require a specific skillset and are arguably entertaining to watch.

What's the fucking difference? Sports and games are both made up games for entertainment. How can he make fun of one and not the other? I'm a fucking HUGE sports guy, so it just doesn't make sense that he can criticize gaming and not criticize sports.
