Will NX have paid online

Yes 51 19.47%

No 103 39.31%

Maybe 45 17.18%

NX sucks! 19 7.25%

Other 2 0.76%

I like pizza 42 16.03%

Total:262

I think it will, bt it will only have some extra features from the usual Online, plus it will be cheaper than Sony and Microsoft's

I think people would completely crucify them for it. It is Nintendo after all, there are no "correct" choices for them. Especially not such a big change as putting online behind a paywall.

On the other hand, is it fair? Could they do it? Absolutely. Soon every company will have their own subscription service, so why not Nintendo?

I really dont see Nintendo offering their entire library with a premium service when they can leave it like it is and have their fans rebuy old games they didnt get before.

This. People are dreaming. Nintendo has always been clear about being against devaluing their games like this.

maybe maintenaing overall the online infrastructure needs costs and it would be on the gamers' pockets. i would still feel that nintendo would try to release their older games to mobile and have touch controls. you've mentioned also a poor OS, so all those costs might be bundled and gamers would pay for it.

Gamers would pay for it by buying games, not by paying for a yearly subscription. The idea that you need a subscritpion fee to have good online or features is one of the most insidious lies Sony and Microsoft have ever fooled the populace into thinking.

They won't release them to mobile. They've literally said they won't because they wouldn't work on mobile.

Hasn't been an issue for PC.

Which platform has the most modding? I'm pretty sure Nintendo wants to prevent that.

likewise, companies putting their games on PC still have to maintain and pay for servers, so my points still apply to them (they are taking losses).

Lmao, that's your defense? Modding? You realize that modding has absolutely nothing to do with good online at all, right? Companies aren't sweating on maintaining those servers. No one has complained about it before. You don't see Activision demanding Steam provide an online subscription because they're "taking losses" on providing servers. Get outta here with that.

They should, clearly the majority of gamers dont have a problem with it so they might as well make some damn money

Nintendo won't. Not a gaming one, at least.

No, but the NX OS menu will have game-ads.

I would really hope they'd stay away from that.

Some companies allow modding. Some even support it (minecraft and gta). But there are also companies that are heavily against it. Companies that are heavily against it have their own servers to make sure cheating and hacking do not occur (ex: blizzard). Nintendo is definitely one against modding/hacking/cheating, so it would make sense for them to have private servers. That costs money and it wouldn't be surprising if nintendo as a CONSOLE maker to charge a yearly fee

You're confusing the concept of modding with the concept of illegaly altering game code
