These are demo'ed only for short bursts of time, so it hasnt dawned yet. I'm sure we will hear about it when they come out. There is a reason why anime's that represent VR always have this gear in simply glasses. A very light and non-intrusive hardware. Thats the only way i see it gaining popularity. |
I can see how some people would have trouble with that. Though most people don't seem to have an issue with it, considering how popular over the ear headphones are.
My personal experience with VR comes from using the Gear VR which honestly I've never used for more than like 25-30 minutes at a time (the phone overheats if you use it for too long) but I think you could comfortably wear that for an hour without too much issue. It's important to remember that the Gear VR should easily be the least comfortable headset when comparing it to the Rift or PSVR since it's heavier (555 grams with the phone vs less than 380 for the other two), puts most of the weight way out in from of the headset, and sits on your face like a scuba mask.
Arguibly the most popular depiction of VR in anime (SAO) uses these big giant helmets though. Plus, the little glasses you sometimes see would actually offer a pretty crappy experience. Since you'd have loads of light bleed and a terrible vertical FOV.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
