Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo's Best and Worst Selling Games in Japan

Nintendo is Japan's biggest publisher, the company has published most of the best selling games in the country and even 32 years after the release of their first console worth giving a crap about their still a powerhouse of a publisher.

So we're going to count some of their best selling games ever relased, just a catch though, no Pokeymen, while Nintendo did publish the main Gen I & II game they haven't been publishing notable games of the series since and I want it to be more of Nintendo games, if you disagree with this decision feel free to post a complaint in the complaint box.

The list was made including shipped data for the Famicom, Super Famicom and Game Boy, for everthing else is the data from Weekly Famitsu, data includes digital for whatever systems, DS stands for Disk System.

Here's a needlessly overcomplicated and hard to read graph, hope you have fast internet!

Because fuck being positive we're also going to count the games with the lowest known sales.

If the game's sales was never publicly released then it can't be here, so all of this is just public information, the actual worst selling Nintendo games are likely Virtual Boy games, but there's no data for that, so here's what you have!

All of this data is from Weekly Famitsu so it only counts games released after late 1994, note that is is what I have, from what I've heard I miss some weird GBA compilations but whatever.

Here I decided to include all games published by Nintendo, Pokemon or not.

Graph or whatever.

Go to sleep kids.

Anybody notice a trend with the best sellers? All casual friendly titles, this is Nintendo's biggest strength

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Great thread, Kylee!

Mario is definitely a powerhouse. And Codename STEAM was most definitely a flop. Can't say I'm surprised though since that game was not something meant to appeal to Japan in the slightest. Did The Wonderful 101 actually sell more than 15k over there?

Should we anticipate Mario Kart 7 or Smash Bros. 3DS making the top 20?

TW101 sold more than 15k in Japan? Nice!

Anyway, your graphs are crashing my phone

I WON A BET AGAINST AZUREN! WOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

:3

It's incredible how little Wii Sports Club did. We're talking about the second sequel to a +3m series. Yeah it was available online before the retail release but that doesn't justify a 2.5k FW. Just weird.

Wow, did Nintendo even profit from Codename STEAM? Those sales are abysmal. And what even is Theta?

You know it deserves the GOTY.
