Forums - Nintendo - THIS is the creativity that Mario Maker Needs

Wow. I probably would have given up sooner.

O____________O

So damn impressive.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

A really great way for experienced players to play some ridiculously hard stages

Checkpoints would be a great addition..

Now all we need is checkpoints. And slopes. Mostly checkpoints.

That would kill the pace and main incentive of this game imo, unless the level is waaay too long. Is there not an option for checkpoints though? I don't have the game D:

No, checkpoints don't exist in the game yet. And since the current focus of the game is for every fan to make their hardest/most terribly designed Kaizo level possible, it's sort of a pain to go through the former when you HAVE to have a perfect run to beat it. The current creator base doesn't seem to recognize that Kaizo was designed with save states in mind.

Maybe once the creator base evens out a bit and we start getting back into the well designed levels we'll not need checkpoints, but considering World and U are a part of this game, I'd prefer we get them so that we can really see some long, satisfying levels rather than a barrage of short and pixel perfect ones, or even the long pixel perfect ones. And this is all coming from a place of love, mind you; I'm not hating on the game because the creators are getting their inner Kaizos out of the way, I just can't wait until the really good creators become more prolific and the game stops being a barrage of terrible levels.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

This stage was completed just once out of 11000 tries and it was made by someone who finished Super Mario World in 25 min with his eyes cover. We are talking about real hardcore stuff here lol

fair?

This is just a nightmare - most levels i am playing now are just too hard - there is no fun - Nintnedo should add a filter to separete level by difficulties.

easy - normal - hard - very hard

There is a filter though? When I go to course world and click somewhere on the left it gives me the option for Easy, Normal and Expert levels if I wish to filter.

eh :/ looks challenging but doesn't seem to make the player rage, honestly for what I've seen those levels are far more fun :v

Easy when you know how.

Infact that level is precise, you make one mistake and it's over as indicated by the person resetting each time. I think the best levels should give you a chance to make amends.

Hmm, pie.

it isnt hard to make a level hard with complexity, and honestly i really fail to see whats so exciting about mario maker stages.
I watch ops video and i just think "meh, i'd have got bored by the third try and switched to a fun game"

From what i've seen mario maker suffers the same problem LBP did, a festoon of shitty levels and the occasional gem amongst the dung, the only difference is it was easier to find good levels in LBP, and the creativity on display of the better levels was on a whole other level, too.
