Forums - Nintendo - Is Punch-Out!! the first Nintendo NX game teased ?

So, we all know Nintendo LOVES to give hints of any kind, and their new games aren't excluded, so, this year I was expecting Nintendo to announce Star Fox and Mother 3 due to the guy in the Robot Chicken of last year (as well as for the shaded gameplay of Miyamoto but that came after the robot chicken) and guess what ? We got Star Fox Zero and Earthbound Beginnings, pretty correct, isn't it ? Then, after this year Nintendo's E3 I kept wondering what the hint could have been, I even thought for a few days that the clip with the star before the announcement of TLOZ: TH was a foreshadowing for SMG3 but one, clear, obvious hint was always in my mind:

Many people speculated a new entry in the Punch-Out!! series after seeing this picture, but after the pubblication of the video it was taken from it seemed that people stopped thinking about it. I honestly think that Punch-Out!! might be one of the games showcased at E3 2016 and that it'll most likely be for NX since next year the console will be announced and the Wii U doesn't seem to offer appropriate mechanics for Punch-Out!!

What do you think ? am I right or I'm digging too much in this year's E3 ? what is in your opinion the hidden hint in this year Nintendo's E3 ?

Shrugs. Maybe it started off as a Wii U or 3DS game and Nintendo opted to move it to the NX, which will probably be the case for a lot of games.

We know for a fact Super Paper Mario and Fire Emblem on Wii started off as GameCube games, so did Zelda: Twilight Princess, I wouldn't even be surprised if Metroid Prime 3 also initially was going to be a GCN game.

It could be, but it's too soon to tell. We don't even know how the console is, much less its games.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

A 3D version of Punch Out on the 3DS might have been stellar but I am thinking it is too late for the 3DS.

don't think so

I'm pretty sure it was in there as a joke.

Nah, I don't see a new Punch-Out game happening anytime soon.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I thought the same when I saw the video. It was a funny moment and though it could be seen simply as a joke, I also thought at the moment that it was a hint for an announcement. I dont know if I would be happy or not with a new punch out. I have never played the game before xD

I want all games for all consoles!!!

Switch!!!

Right before E3 2015 I was convinced Nintendo would reveal a "Punch U Out!" for Wii U. I actually suspected this as early as the summer of 2014, when Nintendo showed Project Giant Robot.
I never saw Project Giant Robot as an actual game, but rather as a tech demo with certain play mechanics suitable for a future game. Looking at the play mechanics in Project Giant Robot, it actually mimmicks the basic body movement of a boxer (but in slow motion and without the punching abilities), making it suitable as game engine for an highly advanced sequal to "Punch Out!".

I got even more convinced when Nintendo showed us footage of Reggies boxing pose right before E3 this year.

I still believe Nintendo had plans to show an early version of "Punch U Out!" for Wii U at this years E3, but for some reason they pulled the plug days before the show. I suspect the game was still too early in development to do it justice. If such a game is in development, the question is if Nintendo still see it as a Wii U release or a NX release?
