sad thing to see

I would swear that "lets plays" and "speedruns" if anything just help promote games and their sales rise because of it.
I dont see how this helps nintendo in anyway, its a loss of free PR.

Its like pewdiepie playing a game, you know thats going to help sales.
It makes no sense to stop a guy like him from doing a "lets play".

Plus this stuff comes off really "anti-gamer friendly", which is not a good thing for a console maker.

Nintendo are killing their own brand with this stuff.

Except Pewdipie actually played Super Mario 64 on an emulator.

Do "Let's Play" channels on YouTube have to pay Nintendo a fee or something in order to post their play throughs online? Cause I see popular ones like GameGrumps doing a series on Mario Maker and LOZ A Link Between Worlds right now for example, whereas other popular YouTubers like Angry Joe have complained about Nintendo pulling videos that feature Nintendo games or products.

Not a fee, but a percentage of their ad revenure.

It's still a fee.

No, a fee would be a fixed amount that you get at the end of something.

Isn't the percent fixed. Or does it change? And you have to pay Nintendo each month. The only difference is this is deducted automatically.

You don't pay Nintendo. You share revenue with them.

It's funny because he has a Wii and could easily play the Virtual Console version.

This seems like an specific attack by Nintendo on roms rather than speedruns video's.. I can see the reasoning behind the move, as these video's can be viewed as promotion for rom use.

In fact, when he said he wouldn't play any Nintendo games, he was playing Super Mario 64 on an emulator.

And The Nintendo 64, released back in 1996.

As far as I know, nintendo dont make or sell new Nintendo 64s.... so they dont lose a peny on someone useing a emulator.

After 20years or so, hopefully you have made all the profits you ever will off of the software your selling.

Nintendo need to just look past the emulation part, I wouldnt be surprised if pewdiepie playing a emulator game of a 19year old mario game, didnt in some ways boost mario game sales.

They should save themselvs the money they use on people takeing down Lets plays & speedruns, and put that towards makeing NEW games instead.

He probably owns a legal version of the game as well.

Its just... how do you even stream directly from a Wii/64?

Thats probably why he did it on a pc instead, that and it looks & runs better on a pc than the console.

also I ll bet you a few chocolate chipped cookies, that the week pewdiepie had that video of mario 64, the virtual console sales of that game went up.

You think it costs a lot of money to sue people? Really? It's not expensive.

Absolutely no excuse. He has played games on the Wii before, and it was easy. No excuse to play it on a PC.

No it didn't. You think that Mario 64, the most important 3D game of all time, needs to be influenced by Pewdiepie? That's like saying that Fantastic Four comic book sales increased because of the movie. Stop defending Pewdiepie.
