Nintendo really isn't helping its reputation

Wether I find them fun to watch is irrelevant to the statement. The article talks about the benefits to the gaming community, introducing old games to younger games. I don't see those benefits. Maybe it's just my kids that don't find speedruns fun to watch. They watch tons of let's play videos, yet never got excited about some old game from a speedrun. I think it's mostly for older nostalgic gamers. |
The point is, I think, everyone has a different definition of entertainment, it doesn't always align, and all Nintendo's doing is forcing such activity underground where there will certainly be even LESS publicity for their titles. There's plenty of stuff that people do, that I don't find entertaining, and really, I just don't pay attention to it. Beyond that, I think Nintendo needs a new PR firm. This constant nitpicking over meaningless shite isn't helping them.
No publicity is bad publicity. Especially if you're in dead last.
Nintendo seems like it's run by petty high schoolers.
anyone who goes against nintendo at this particular thing should do a bit more research, if you havent even bought the god damn game you are recording about ofc nintendo is gonna take it down if they monatize it, and sometimes even if they dont monatize it. If i would make a game i wouldnt want people to emulate it, ofc it has some sort of advertising, but advertising is relative, sometimes it is and sometimes its not advertisement at all, and now for old Nintendo games its not advertisment at all. Stop trying to defend youtubers all the time xD i have mutiple times gotten my vids removed from nintendo, i dont go bitch about it, because its their game, but you can advise them not to do so, by not bitching about it.

Pretty much, the internet finds a way around any form of censorship. Sure, in this case it may not be as publicly viewed as a youtube video as a result, but they're not actually stopping anything.

ofc this can be fought one, who says it couldnt, if someone are uploading videos and earning money of it from a game they didnt buy then its removal. I dont know wich other solution there is, but you people have complained but nothing changes, so its obviously not working
I would swear that "lets plays" and "speedruns" if anything just help promote games and their sales rise because of it.
I dont see how this helps nintendo in anyway, its a loss of free PR.
Its like pewdiepie playing a game, you know thats going to help sales.
It makes no sense to stop a guy like him from doing a "lets play".
Plus this stuff comes off really "anti-gamer friendly", which is not a good thing for a console maker.
Nintendo are killing their own brand with this stuff.
Nintendo... "Emulators suck."
Me... "I agree."
I really don't care if they go after people using emulators. First off, they're illegal, secondly, they blow and are never as perfect as the actual game. I can't tell you how many times I go to youtube to get some help with a level etc. and the game is from someone playing on a crappy emulator. The music, graphics... even the physics... there is always something glitchy and wonky and it blows my mind why anyone would want to play these games that way.
A copy of SMW is cheap as hell on Ebay... and a SNES can be had for less than a full priced game. Just buy the real thing people.

You really shouldn't considering how much Nintendo wants to kill it themselves.
I'm now filled with determination.
Eh... That´s not ok from Nintendo and no, there are no benefits from speedruns at all, that doesn´t make it better though, but also it doesn´t affect me at all, is another case of Nintendo and its conservative approach to youtube, and this is the weekly thread about the same subject that is getting a bit old tbh, we get it, Nintendo and youtube don´t fit well, when Nintendo changes their youtube policies, now that would be news, but meanwhile this has to be expected, and I don´t really give a shit tbh.
