I love these patents lol. I hope more come, because they definitely won't walk about the NX for months.

Of course not. Its just a combination of patents and information that makes me think that Nintendo wants to a approach a blue ocean as they said. I still think they are aiming for fans with this

But what would that blue ocean would that be? Like, it can't be casuals because casuals aren't a blue ocean anymore. I think they are doing the opposite, and trying to redefine the red ocean with a completely different, forward thinking redefinition of what a video game platform is. That's the real gimmick. Not the hardware, but the ecosystem.
I never felt limited when I only had A and B buttons on the NES. The Wii was a success because almost anyone could pick it up and play. Most games have become complicated with so many different button presses that only the core gamer remains. I know the ship has sailed on the Wii but I also know you don't need as many buttons as an Atari Jaugar controller.

I can definitely see this being the case. I really want to get a little more info before I can be certain, but does feel that they may be currenly gliding over to that. Overall, its just strange bits of information we're getting

ATTN: EVERYBODY.
This patent is purely for clickable mouse wheels used in place of traditional shoulder pads.
That is all.

Shrugs. I wouldn't mind if the hardware (NX portable) actually looked fairly close to that. Just give it the X/Y buttons. I really like the Vita form factor.
Also clickable/scrolling shoulder buttons is a good idea, kind of a wonder that it hasn't really been done before by one of the big three.

Ususally Nintendo is the one that risks the most innovating the basic controllers, when Sony/Microsoft try to do that (mostly copying Nintendo) it doesn't end up pretty well aka Kinect aka PS Vita back touch screen

Well, mouse wheel (which, as someone pointed out, what this basically is) is not so great for gaming, plus circular shoulder button is not exactly very ergonomic. But let's wait and see.

Yeah I think you kinda nailed it there.
Rather than a control revolution, NX is about changing the nature of the traditional game ecosystem.
The whole "casual controller" thing won't work again, because casuals are today the complete opposite of a blue ocean market, there are more games being made for casuals (iOS/Google market) than for any other gaming audience today and there is a practical saturation of the hardware that provides those experiences -- almost everyone has access to a smart device, even kids.
NX is more about changing the concepts of a what a traditional game platform can be IMO.
