Forums - Gaming - 3rd party Half Life 3 Outsourcing

We all want Half Life 3. Even the people that believe they don't need it, actually do.

Neil Druckmann, writer, programmer and creative director at Naughty Dog has an idea and decided to share it with Valve.

Let's be honest, Valve is currently in the no risks business. Their platform is so consolidated that they don't even need to make an effort anymore.

So why not passing the ball to somebody else? Chances are either Naughty Dog, Bethesda, Rockstar, Rocksteady or even CD Project Red, will make a good job. And if they don't? Well, it will suck for sure, but the fan's outrage won't be able to hold Valve accountable. Leaving their reputation impeccable as usual.

I can't think of a AAA developer that will turn down the chance. The profit is guaranteed, even if the revenue is split in 2 parts. Valve doesn't have to compromise their record as a developer and could simply run the publishing formalities.

Everybody wins.

So, the real question is... Should Half-Life be left the way it is -or- should Valve pick a recognized developer to run the risk of meeting our expectations?

I don't know man, most developers may see it as something to not touch as if you fuck it up everyone hates you. Naughty Dog is the only one I really trust to hold it.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Eh, Half-Life 2 is overrated either way, making an improved sequel can't that much harder, the problem is giving the people some revolutionary shiz so it is praised to heaven.

I'm now filled with determination.

As much as i love and admire ND work, i dont think they are experienced enough with the FPS genre.

It may look easy to make, but the gameplay is very tricky imo.

Honestly, I don't think Half Life is amazing as people think it is, so I would be perfectly fine if it never released. Even if it was announced tomorrow it wouldn't phase me.

I think Neil was just kidding around with that tweet.

My expecations are not that high for Half-Life 3, but is ND really the dev that would do a great job with such game?

My hopes are pretty low...

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
