BTW Bloodborne is open world too.
The Dream is just for shotcuts but the game is open world.... you can travel the Bloodborne world without needs the Dream.

I don't think 7th gen is holding it back. Aiming for 60 fps limits potential of visual quality. So less demanding assets is easier to port to 7th gen.

I've seen MGS5 in live in action on my own 1080p TV so this is first hand experience. The game looks good, and is obviously visually superior to last gen games. But you can definitely tell that the game is somewhat graphically compromised to achieve 60fps compared to the best looking 30fps PS4 games to date.
That's not to say Kojima hasn't created a technically great game with the hardware he had to work with. But it seems to be the case that the best looking games of the generation will probably be running at 30fps, at least until we hit the back half of the generation and developers are squeezing the maximum out of the consoles.

MGSV may be open world but it isn't packed with NPCs in the way a game like GTAV is, the former is also not as big as a number of open world games either (I've got and played the game heavily) as it's a collection of large areas which are only loaded for specific missions with maybe 20-30 or so enemy npcs so it's unfair to knock other games for not running at the same performance as these areas are nowhere near as large as the entire maps that a number of open world games run with loads of NPCs going about their business.
MGSV has made compromises itself to look and perform the way it does.
I will have to disagree. I admit, I believe in the heresy that graphics and visual aesthetic of a game are really important. For the vast majority of games that aren't pushing the graphical envelope, yes, they should strive for 60 fps. I don't care if they have to sacrifice some particle effects to make it play better.
But then on the opposite end of the spectrum, there are games like the new Ratchet and Clank. That game is visually astounding because it is the first game of its visual style to look virtually indistinguishable from a Pixar movie. I am someone who thought that the PS3 Ratchet and Clanks weren't that much of a step up from the PS2 Ratchet and Clanks, because they failed to break that particular barrier. I genuinely believe that if the new Ratchet and Clank game strove for 60 fps and failed to achieve the visual splendor it was striving for, I would enjoy the game significantly less.
I would rather see a game that's looks good( not amazing) and runs Amazing on 60fps(kuch kuch onechanbara, samurai warrior's 4)
Than having amazing graphics and subpar fps.
Fps is more important than graphics!
It's not the best looking game on eighth gen, but it certainly looks good enough for most people. Runs extremely well on modest PCs as well. They also managed to get the game playing well on 5 platforms.
Just remember that Kojima spent 6+ years developing the engine of this game and the game itself, and that's not with a small dev team, either. The publisher wasn't quite happy with this outcome and look at what direction that company's headed in now. This just isn't the most profitable route for these companies. Wowing the average gamer with nice set pieces, shiny graphics at the cost of a 15-28fps performance, massive bugs at launch and on a two years or less release cycle gets the job done and brings in the cash.
4 ≈ One
I agree that all games should be 60 fps. There should be a law for that. But I would not consider MGS V a current gen game. I see it more of a last gen game that happened to have it's HD remaster available at launch.

Exactly, you can see how much it is being held back. The environment like detail, the character models are not fluid and the bushes (foilage) don't even move when Boss crawls through them.

And still most gamers and critics thinks its a masterpiece.
I would not have enjoyed it to much if the game would run at 30fps and would have framerate problems because gamers who thinks a ps4 can handle pc graphics bitch about it.
If bloodborne would have run on. A solid 30fps i would have enjoyed it a lot more.
Performance >> graphics!
Uncharted 4 will clear everything up! If that game runs at a solid 30fps a lot of devvs are doing something terrible wrong!
