Forums - Gaming - MGSV looks great and still hits 60fps. Enough is enough.

As in enough settling for less. Open world isn't even an excuse anymore. MGSV is a beautiful looking game that runs at a near flawless 60fps on next generation systems and is an open world. This stupid notion that we're sacrificing anything for a game to run the way it should anymore is moot now. It's even 1080p on the PS4, for Pete's sake. I didn't accept 30fps bullshit last generation, but this makes it explicitely unacceptable.

From a technical POV, MGSV should set the standard for all gen 8 games going forward. I said Bloodborne was the first truly next gen game. I was wrong. MGSV is. Open world. 60fps. Console. Raise your standards, guys. All games could play like this now. Don't settle for less.

Looks better than most of 30fps games... that is fair.

The Fox Engine is amazing.

I suspect part of the reason is that many big budget games don't get the kind of development time that Kojima was allowed. Otherwise, I'd have to play it to see if they're pulling any "The Order" tricks to heighten the resolution. I'm sure that's not the case, though, as I've seen you post many times and you seem to know what you're talking about, I just like to verify it for myself lol

I think we'll see more games meet this standard as that's generally how each gen works, the second half of its life features far more technically impressive games than the first. That said, I still prefer gameplay/fps over resolution if they're forced to decide on one or the other.

nvm

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

it looks great, but it would have looked Spectacular if it wasnt cross-gen. It clearly is stopping the game from its true potential. If you are nitpicking, you can clearly see where that happens.

I can't wait for Syndicate to come out, run like shit, and then sell equal to if not greater than MGSV.

All the games aren't made the same way and focused on the same things.

Uncharted 4 is not open world (even as it now has big levels with multiple paths), and will run at 30fps.

And I don't see a single problem there, actually I see a lot of benefits, the game breaths life.

And the fact that Uncharted 4 looks miles better justify the 30fps.   MGSV looks amazing with the right setting illuminations, weather, etc.   But when it does not have them, it looks like a PS3 remastered game, higher res, and bigger textures.

bloodborne? the game that coulnt even keep the 30 fps stable?

Well... MGSV is a nice looking game that achieves 60 fps. But the assets don't look particularly great. Its kinda like a really well polished 7th gen game.

It only runs at 60fps cause it is and it looks like a cross gen game. Nothing too next gen about it. Launch titles like Shadow Fall looks 10x better.

But I'm with you on one thing... I would prefer a more simple looking game like Phantom Pain that gives me stable 60fps than one that looks amazing but has inconsistent fps. That is, only if the game demands it (racing, fast action, etc.).
