MGSV is a beautiful looking game that runs at a near flawless 60fps on next generation systems and is an open world. This stupid notion that we're sacrificing anything for a game to run the way it should anymore is moot now. It's even 1080p on the PS4, for Pete's sake. I didn't accept 30fps bullshit last generation, but this makes it explicitely unacceptable. From a technical POV, MGSV should set the standard for all gen 8 games going forward. I said Bloodborne was the first truly next gen game. I was wrong. MGSV is. Open world. 60fps. Console. Raise your standards, guys. All games could play like this now. Don't settle for less. |
I suspect part of the reason is that many big budget games don't get the kind of development time that Kojima was allowed. Otherwise, I'd have to play it to see if they're pulling any "The Order" tricks to heighten the resolution. I'm sure that's not the case, though, as I've seen you post many times and you seem to know what you're talking about, I just like to verify it for myself lol
I think we'll see more games meet this standard as that's generally how each gen works, the second half of its life features far more technically impressive games than the first. That said, I still prefer gameplay/fps over resolution if they're forced to decide on one or the other.
