Forums - Nintendo - Does Nintendo often announce controversial games but they end up really good?

I'd say it's extremely common with Nintendo, actually. Probably because their games tend to be the sort of things that don't have enough flash or grittiness for an appealing trailer, but make a lot more sense once you're actually playing them.

Funnily enough, the reverse of how a lot of games end up.

I'm actually looking forward to Federation Force...
I'm not expecting an experience that comes close to Prime, but if we expect every game we play to be the next Prime, we'd be setting ourselves up for constant disappointment...
I have two young nephews who are only beginning to truly explore the worlds Nintendo has created, so I can't wait to play Federation Force with them...
It doesn't help that those who love Nintendo the most feel like every game has to "save" Nintendo...

Have a nice day...

Sticker Star would like to have a word with you, sir!

I guess so, but it doesn't happen so much with me, as I don't tend to get over hyped unless it's a game I know I will enjoy :/

With billions of dollars in the bank do they need to be saved? Not to mention that its not consumer's responsibility to save a company or is it good to buy every product from a company just because its their product.

This.

I think part of it is people know what they want from Nintendo and their many franchises so, when something is revealed and it usually doesn't match that idea in their head, their first sensation is one of disappointment. Over time, though, you come to see that the game actually looks pretty fun and are often won over. This has just happened to me with that upcoming Triforce heroes, as it did with Mario Maker and Splatoon.

That, and Nintendo games are often rather unusual so it's difficult to know what to make of them until more information is released.

Most of these weren't even made by them.
