Forums - Nintendo - Why does Nintendo sell GBA games on the Wii U and not the 3DS eshop?

Well, there is no reason. The Ambassadors got 10 GBA games didn't they? So what's the friggin' issue!? And, and there should be a whole thread about why Pokemon Red/Blue & Gold/Silver aren't on the eShop. I mean like...come on Nintendo. People are pirating these games on Android and iOS like it's nobody's business. It's not because we want to, it's because you choose not to put a Gameboy Color game on the eShop. Thanks Nintendo. :D

There you go.

And also Nintendo couldn't(or too lazy to) optimize their own GBA emulator for 3DS.

Because they want to promote the Wii U more and increase sales

Its best not to try to put logic behind some of Nintendo's decisions.

This, also they probably were holding back on the VC stuff for the handheld for a later handheld device but the 3DS issues early on caused them to acclereate their time table and release those games on the 3DS. The system eventually stablized but the Wii U's massive issues with getting sales probably forced Nintendo's hand to start the conversion of GBA/DS games that they were intending to be a selling point of their next handheld system's VC/eShop on the Wii U to help support it since only Nintendo, with one or two major family multiplatform game port and Indie games were being released on it.

If the Wii U was #1 or #2 selling home console, we probably at best would have only gotten the DS games because of the dual screens.

The 3DS is physically unable to run GBA Virtual Console games to an acceptable level.

Would it be okay to point out that your source doesn't actually say that?  While your statement COULD be true, it doesn't actually make the statement that it is unable to.

I havent read that article in ages, so I guess I might have simplified the conclusion in my head. Still, it isnt easy.

I'm guessing this part: Nintendo would essentially have to develop and get their emulator working perfectly on the Nintendo 3DS, something the system might not have the horse power to do.

Technically, we think it’s possible, but again it’s always going to be a numbers game with Nintendo.

One thing is certain, seeing "LOL Ninty is STOOPID" for something they likely cant do at all is annoying but unsurprising
