Forums - Gaming - Do you care about 'realism' in your sport games?

I expect realism in sports I really care about like basketball and baseball. This is why I have enjoyed rocket league so much because it belongs to a sport I dont enjoy watching.

Realism is pretty much the only new thing sports games like Fifa, 2K and Madden can add

Depends on the game.

I actually want sports games to be more arcadey. I don't know, I just can't get into FIFA no matter how hard I try!

I feel the exact same way. 05 was my favourite fifa, before all this animation and physics bs.

To me, more 'realism' is proportional to less fun

In a sim sports game, realism is very important for me

My only problem with realism is I feel like it has actually ruined some of the mechanics of the game. I used to think Madden was so fun on PS2, now it seems like they have tried adding too much stuff to make it more and more realistic and it has just ruined the fun altogether.

Money can't buy happiness. Just video games, which make me happy.

Generally yes. It can be fun and not realistic, but I love Career mode and Dynasty mode in my sports games. MyCareer too.

This so much. I remember when you could score more than 100 goals in the first FIFA games of the 2000s. That in a way made the game quite fun. But still, my favorite in the series is FIFA 07, which I think marked a perfect balance between realism and arcade feeling. It was good to play Manager mode and was good to play with friends.

Nowadays, FIFA games feel very heavy to me and there are other design choices that I really dislike, including the menu design.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Depends on the game. If it's Madden or Fifa or NBA2K then yes I want it to be as realistic as possible. If it's something like NBA Street (rip) then I enjoy those more as arcade-y typed

I wouldn't want an arcade version of the above mentioned games (minus Street) though.
