Forums - Sony Discussion - Until Dawn Review Thread - Meta: 80

I'm pleasantly surprised by this score! I was intrigued by this game but always worried it would end up bad and getting a score in the 60s.

Excited by this near-80 score and will def buy this sometime!!

Havent you heard? This doesnt work. /s

Which part?

Several posters have claimed that popular Youtubers like Pewdiepie or Angry Joe have a minimal to nonexistent impact on the sales or exposure of games. Go to most threads around Nintendos YouTube policy, or Angry Joes reaction to his MP10 takedown, or Pewdiepies initial statement on the matter and read through the posts to see for yourself. Of course this is ridiculous because even outlets like the BBC talk about the influence of big time youtubers on the sales and marketting of games.

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

Just finished Until Dawn (rented it on a whim) and it was actually really good! It's certainly cheesy, but it's also genuinely scary at parts and the atmosphere is great.

One thing I did find really odd though, and maybe it was just me, but I felt like the graphics and especially animation were better during the second half of the game than they were in the first half... I remember being a little disappointed in how it looked and how the characters moved in the beginning, but then being really impressed with it later in the game...

Anyone else notice this?

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Nobody is going to buy Until Dawn, a very cinematic game, after they just watched an entire let's play from it.

It can boost sales of other kind of games though, but to tell you the truth I don't want to see the demographic that watches pewdiepie on the Wii U. How anyone can watch more than a minute of his videos is beyond me.

Unless of course they wanted to see more than just one of what I imagine are litteraly dozens of paths and endings. I rented it and beat it, and I still plan on buying it, since I only reached one ending.

The bold is just silly...

It's a game that otherwise wouldn't sell very well, so any advertisement is in its benefit. The game is also fairly unknown by the vast majority of gamers.

Think of it like Five Nights at Freddies. Undeniably, that franchise has sold well because of its let's play attention, despite people experiencing the same game, essentially, by either watching a let's play or playing it themselves.

Sure, there's one big difference between the two, and that's price. FNAF is extremely cheap and Until Dawn is a full-priced game. But I think many people will still go out and buy the game even if they saw a Let's Play of it.

He's saying that because pewdiepie is playing that it'll get enough exposure to sell a million copies.
