Forums - Nintendo - Do you think the Wii U will get any meaningful releases in 2017?

Every first party abandons their last gen console as soon as possible once the successor launches. I would count on nothing first party in 2017 for the Wii U if the NX launches in 2016. Considering third party support is basically nonexistent for the Wii U, I would say that whatever the last first party game is that releases will be the last game ever potentially worth owning for the Wii U.

Maybe they will do some cross gen games

I don´t believe that the NX or whatever-it-is-called will be out next year. I think they will launch it somewhere early 2017
And I don´t believe there will be any significant release for WiiU in 2017.... maybe a compilation, an HD port or something

Probably not, or least, not on the scale of games like Smash, or Xenoblade.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

They might do some cross-gen games, but realistically I wouldn't hold my breath.

Nintendo ditched the Wii after the 3DS launched (let alone Wii U) and the Wii had 100 million userbase.

I really doubt it. NX will take the spotlight.

Either crossgen games or ZeldaU coming really late.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

One of Mr Iwatas statemants before he died was that satisfying Wii U owners was a big priority for Nintendo. Im sure he also said something along the lines of still making games for Wii U/3DS because thay have install base, whilst NX will start with zero. Of course this could all change now Mr Iwata is no longer with us :(

the wii died way before the wii u came out so...

I think 2017 will be a completely NX year.
