I'm having incredible hard time in China. I didn't remember the game having such annoyances as Jensen refusing to punch two soldiers, but instead, only one, consuming my last battery and leaving me completely vulnerable to the enemy's shotgun blast.

Oh man, those missions in china... D:
Just beat the first boss on the eighth attempt. Honestly, all I can say is that I'm glad I didn't re-buy HR for the Director's Cut version. I don't want to give them money for something that should have been fixed before the game shipped or, at the very least, updated for free afterwards. Fuck everyone involved in that decision.
Also, I somehow lost Ghost, not sure how.
I always play under the Take Out Everyone philosophy but I almost want to play through by going around everyone. I can't even imagine how easy and fast that would make the game. Of course, that would mean a severe shortage of Exp but it probably wouldn't be too bad.
I finally sat down and played the game
My playing style in FPS games is to usually go all out and hope for the best. Let's just say that this tactic doesn't work that well in this game . After dying five times during the first wave of enemies ( Which is practically just two guys ) I finally got a hang of the game. I still tend to prefer less stealthy kills but overall as I'm progressing into the game, I'm trying to implement stealth into my kills. The story seems to have an interesting premise.
That's pretty much all I've got for now. I'll update as I move further in the game.

I actually really like the missions in China. There's a ridiculous number of paths for each mission in that area. But yeah, getting close to 2 guys for him to only take out one is fracking annoying.

I think I got the Director's Cut for only £3.99 from what I remember. Steam had a deal if you own the original game and an even cheaper deal if you owned both the game and DLC. Either way, it was worth not having to go through the horror of the original boss fights.

For XP, it's actually better to go stealth, non-lethal, melee to take people out. You can shoot them in the head after with a silenced gun if you really want to kill them and stop another enemy from reviving them. Second to that, you can always go for sniper head-shots, although you won't get as much total XP (30 vs 50).
I finished the game about 2 weeks ago, and I enjoyed it quite a bit.
Without spoiling anything, the game does have a "deep philosophical" ending(s), and the general concept of augmentations is very well done.
The major problem I have with the game is how little options you have in terms of powers. I never been a huge fan of stealth games in general, with the exception of Dishonored (I love that game to death), and in Dishonored you have so many options in powers that you can go by the same path in like 5 different ways; DeusEx may have different paths to choose from, but they are basically the same with no...flavor, for lack of a better word; I used the invisibility cloak for about the entire game and barely rarely used anything else. Mankind Divided seems to have fixed this "problem" which I'm very glad.
And the shooting mechanics aren't very well done (they are not bad just...meh), so it's better to go through the whole game using stealth.
I do love hacking, it's very simple yet for some reason, highly addicting. I tried to hack almost anything I came across.
Edit: by the way, sorry from jumping in without officially participating (didn't know this existed), but since I finished the game so recently I decided to give my thoughts.

Honestly, I look at Dishonored as kind of an evolved Deus Ex: HR. I get the feeling the Dishonored team looked at HR and refined some of the mechanics and principles. For example, you really can play as you like in Dishonored, as you'll get the same amount of points either way. HR, on the other hand, makes you play in ways that earn points so you can unlock the good stuff. Dishonored also had a more meaningful way of dealing with the player being a mass murderer or someone with a conscious. HR's "more points for being nice" feels kind of lame.
That being said, I rather like that HR has so much stuff to unlock and kind of makes you think about what you need to unlock next. With Dishonored, I carried like 10 unused points at a time because I never needed to invest them. I was like, "hm, I might need X or Y later, so I'll wait," but I really never needed anything but improved blink and improved vision. I think I finished the game with like 13 unused.
Of course, boss fights go without needing a mention. I only remember on "boss fight" in Dishonored and it was skippable.
I guess there are things that I like better about both games. I would like to see both sequels refine their formulas a bit.
On topic, I'm in Hengsha. Dealt with Diamond Chan and Belltower at the apartment complex with ease. Everything fell into place perfectly. About to go into the Hive, which gives me a headache.
It's funny how I'll play well sometimes then come back and it's nothing but frustration. Outside the FEMA plant, I took everyone out quickly and easily. Everything I did was perfect. I got inside, though, and it all turned icky. I really struggled with my decision making and my plan of attack. I get to Hengsha and I'm back to being Batman again.
I hope this doesn't mean I'll bomb at the Pod complex. Those guys are really mean.

But what kind of dealing? The "teaching how to fly" or the "drugs are good for you"?
