I never have backed a project since I feel that it is not my job to make your game come to life, something which can easily be done by other companies if they think your game is good.

Ah! Some of us live in countries were these companies literally don't exist. The only game studios in Nigeria are all independent, and there isn't a single publisher to be found. I'd be surprised if there's a single staff member of any game company here who is older than 40 years.

If I like what I see I don't mind backing them but I would never go to the stupid packs that are like $200 and all that
My current active projects iv'e backed + I did a £15 Yooka Laylee but I missed the kickstarter but payed them through the extension they did.

What about PCARS specifically? I'm guessing because they canned the WiiU version which wasn't excplicitly promised? 360 and PS3 versions got canned and the reaction seemed to be neutral, if not positive, despite there being a far bigger user base there.
Personally I think the way PCARS was funded is actually much better than kickstarter, not only only did backers get their perks, they also got their investment back from the profit of sales after it launched. Kickstarter is kind of like preordering.
And they've announced PCARS 2 now, right at the start of development, because they are going through the same funding and development process.

Shenmue III was the first one, $60 for the PS4 physical version :D
Why no option for throwing in more than $30? I've backed multiple projects, but the only games I've backed so far are Broken Age and Armikrog, by Doug TenNapel of Earthworm Jim fame. I think I gave like $75 or something to Armikrog. Sounds crazy, but Doug is one of my favorite artists and I try to support him in every way I can. Plus I'm getting tons of extras, which I know he's good for because I've backed his projects before.
A lot of people here refuse to back games, and that makes me sad. Crowdfunding allows the creation of games that would have never existed otherwise, and ignoring that because you don't want to lose ten bucks every once in a while is kind of throwing the baby out with the bathwater. But hey, I ain't gonna change any minds here today. I look forward to helping more games see the light of day though.
Wow, nothing less than $20. I'd love it if you'd put even $2 towards my project. Yes, I have a $2 option, because my goal is to raise $1,000 and I think a lot of people contributing $20 or less would go a long way. But we can discuss all that in thread I posted in the OP. More on topic for this thread, what was your motivation to actually back these games?

I backed Pillars of Eternity with $20. I'm perfectly happy with my invesment. I got one of the RPGs in years for quite a cheap price, and the knowledge that I was making it possible.
That's all of my crowdfunding.
