Forums - Gaming Discussion - Xbox One and PS4 "Platform" Exclusives

This confuses me. There are loads of xbox games that are exclusive to the xbox platform but because of the nature of the xbox platform is it on multiple devices. Windows, phones, tablets. They are still only available on xbox now that MS is unifying. The same thing can be said about PlayStation Now which is also available on a bunch of devices and a few on the list are in PSNow or on the PS3 or Vita.

Yet another list, yet another flawed list.

You really cannot make a list that satisfies every fanbase. Though, I agree with you. An IP like Ori is owned by MS and put on two of their platforms, it should count just like The Last of Us would count, owned by Sony and put on two of their platforms (3 if it is on PS Now, idk).

You're right, but Xbox is on windows. Windows is an OS, and the PC is the device, that has the "Xbox" platform app. Not that different from a TV or DVD player that supports PSNow, or the Vita, or PS3. Same idea as a phone that has Xbox.

So now we have to list all the toasters and hair curlers that can stream PS Now?

Also, most games that come out on Windows come out on Linux and Mac, so they again are not XBox platform exclusives. (Which are and are not I have no idea, I don't follow PC gaming).

You misunderstand me. I'm not saying all games that come to windows are xbox games, I'm saying there are games coming to windows through the xbox app, which sort of becomes an extension of the xbox consoles.

But yeah, that's sort of my point with your toasters comment. If they games are on multiple devices then they aren't exactly console exclusive, but platform exclusive so then each platform should be compared on the same merits. Only a small percentage of games that come out on Windows also support Mac and/or Linux.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.

That's pretty much what I was meaning. It's not really a big deal anyway. There just always seems to be some sort of spin to make one look better than the other through omition or whatever someone's bias perceives. Although, for the most part I don't think the OP was going for that, I think the idea was to keep it as transparent as possible, that's why I brought it up.

Hold your horses kid.

If we decide to include PC games the gap actually grows larger (way larger) in favor of the PS4.

Edit: The PS4 has defeated the XB1 in every single list so far in both quality and quantity. It is what it is.

Maybe this will make it easier to understand.

Can I purchase the game for anything other than an Xbox or Playstation (respectively)? If yes, than it doesn't belong on the list.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

We got a "games you can play on one but not the other" list.
We got the "games you can play on this console and nowhere else" list
We got the "games you can play it you stick with one company"

Now make an "Every single game you can play on the platform without any exclusions because ever game counts" list and everybody will finally be happy!

Hahaha I'll leave that list for someone else! It would take a very long time :P

I think my next thread may have to be a refrence for the changes made to Remasters/Remakes. ;)

Is the difference in number really that big?

It is since day one.

It was bigger when MS didn't have any indie.

In that case it will be 295 for the PS4 vs 188 for the XB1. This is just an approximation.

Either way. That's over 100 games in less than 2 years without counting PSNow
