Forums - Gaming - Xbox One Exec: We're Doing Things That

Kudo Tsunoda ( Xbox Executive ) was recently talking about various features which can't be done on the PS4 or any of the Xbox One's competitors these include backwards compatibility and cross play.

Cross play like on RL, FFXIV and SFV?

There are always things you can do on one system and not the others, it is a pretty worthless comment.

There are some things that Xbox One can do that PS4 can't, but BC and cross play are not two of those things lol. Just because Sony isn't giving their consumers BC, doesn't mean they couldn't.

Well you can't mention Wii U not having backwards compatibility considering it had it day 1 (and allowed eshop (VC/WiiWare) to transfer to new system).

Does the XB1 allow for their Live games purchased on 360 to transfer yet? I know they are working on retail backwards compatibility but I haven't heard about the Live (indie games and what not) purchases.

Seems legit. BC is on the Wii U, cross play is on both (and has been available for longer on PS4 than on XBO), but at least he got one thing right: BC can't be done one the PS4.

Exactly what I was going to say! FFXIV and SFV says hi! Plus, the only reason why FFXIV isn't on Xbox One is because M$ didn't want to have crossplay with the PS4. So the lead dev said forget it because his vision is to have everyone play together, regardless of platform.

Emulating a PS3 would require a lot more hardwarewise than emulating the 360. So he got that right, the PS4 can't do BC. But the Wii U which also competes with the XBO does have BC.

"Not only does the Xbox One have features and functionality that can't be found or delivered on competing platforms, but the console has a bigger lineup of exclusives than anyone else, Tsunoda said. "We've got a lot more exclusive games than any other platform," he stated."

I found that part especially interesting. It would seem only games releasing in 2015 count.

Games that are in the BC preview list show up for preview members to download if they bought digitally. For example i bought Shadow Complex years ago the day it launched, it automatically showed up on my list of games i could download on my Xbone.

PS4 announced cross play with PC first with SFV, so yeah that's not true.
