Next year will be interesting. VR and AR are coming out.

AR? You can't be talking about Hololens? The consumer version is't planned to launch until 2020.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Calm down, it's just my concern.
And yes, I am less concerned for OR or Vive. They might have issues as well but those will probably faster to come by due to the openness of the platform.
I care about VR and I want it to thrive. That means a bad first impression could be the end of it. Sony's platform is by default the one that is aimed at the mainstream market and if that is a subpar experience then it will have a lasting impact on everyone else.
Best read my comment as "Better not screw this up Sony!"

Yep.. Nadella just said this a week ago.....on HoloLens
The developer kit will be focused on developer and enterprise needs (out in the next 12 months). Nadella said a consumer edition is a few years away, claiming HoloLens is a “five year journey” similar to Windows 10.

Yeah hololens was a bit of a marketing stunt by MS really, showing it off at E3 when it's not really a viable product for the end user for such a long time.

Just like IllumiRoom.. Microsoft showed it in 2013.. Everyone thought it was going to be part of the Xbox 720 (Xbox One). and nothing.. then it kinda became RoomAlive.. Which will it does have a SDK.. still just a research project..

Yeah exactly... the E3 show had quite a segment on hololens and it generated a lot of hype even though it could be 5 years out (and may never appear as a consumer device) and the fact that what they were showing wasnt accurate to what the player would see, still people fell for it. Great marketing though, i'll give em that.

It's certainly good for the devs but what does that say about the device itself? Other manufacturers are still working with prototypes and alpha devices while Sony got it all figured out? Nothing against Sony but I doubt they're the gods of VR and have mastered it before everyone else. So my conclusion would be that there is some fault with it and/or that they cut more or less important corners to get it ready before everyone else. |
I will cautiously say that, Sony have better experience with this sort of thing than HTC and Facebook. So, in a way, you could expect them to be first. Either way it's an outrageous conclusion to say there is some fault with it.
Nobody will have masterered the technology either. These are just first generation devices aswell.
PS, PS2, Gameboy Advance, PS3, PSP, PS4, Xbox One
I'm pretty sure I've heard this exact statement before from Sony's other peripherals. I don't expect Morpheus to be any different than the PlayStation eyes, Move, or Wonderbook. Or the Pocketstation, even. The only difference here is that like the original PlayStation eye for PS2, Morpheus might be released at an appropriate time relative to the fad, and not several years late like Move.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some Sony, but they're horrendous at supporting anything that's not the main platform for more than a year or so.
You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt! I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading. After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!
So the hardware is ready and it's now just waiting for software? Lol its just like the PS4 then haha. No but seriously I can't wait to check it out.
I'm just a dude from Philly living in Ireland.
