Forums - Nintendo - When is the next Nintendo Direct

Honestly I wouldn't be shocked if Nintendo Direct never happens again. Iwata was the one who created it and I wouldn't be shocked if Nintendo Direct ends with him. I hope it doesn't, but I would not be shocked.

Nintendo Direct are best thing Nintendo done this gen, so I cant see they stopping with them, also lots of people run the Nintendo Direct too, Reggie, Shibata, Bill Trinen that new young Japanese guy..

A few Nintendo Directs has got more than 1.5 million views on youtube: Splatoon, Smash Bros and Animal Crossing 3DS (Japan).
Now they get more than 1,5 million on their youtube channel for "Wii U - Super Mario Maker Coming Soon Trailer"
Maybe they feel that Nintendo Directs are no longer needed when they have established a youtube presence.

Looking at the Nintendo Youtube Channel it is clear that they reach more viewers that way than trough Nintendo Directs:   https://www.youtube.com/user/Nintendo/videos?view=0&flow=grid&sort=p

Wii U - Hyrule Warriors TV Commercial - 2,810,172 views

Wii U - Mario Party 10 E3 2014 Trailer - 2,129,917 views

Nintendo 3DS - Tomodachi Life - 1,983,766 views

Nintendo 3DS - The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D - 1,853,513 views

That is more than most Nintendo Directs (although ND can get views trough eShop too).

Do we really need a new direct?? I mean they will just show holiday line up which we know. Then we have likely very little early next year and then E3 will likely be the reveal of NX with it launching November that year.

More fresh material for the users here to lambast, perhaps?

Just an educated guess given the site's track record.

let's hope soon...a surprise one... Splatoon is doing graet so hammer it until hot - announce something bigsoon, create Hype!

Switch!!!

I am guessing Iwata's death is probably the biggest hurdle, there may be some that want to stop it right there with Mr. Iwata as something unique to him, others that want to continue to use it as a advertise tool but think the official next President should lead the charge and I am sure because Nintendo is a business a few cheap smucks that want to replace the Directs with cheaper Treehouse stream sessions on Twitch or YouTube.

Time will tell.

I don't think there will be one for a while. Maybe not even for the rest of the year, maybe the entire format will be retired.

It's too associated with Mr. Iwata and it's too soon. I think internally Nintendo is still coming to grips with what's happened.

Interesting and predictable near-unanimous assertions that Directs are a thing of the past. Perhaps your worrisome thoughts are 100% justified and that as most of you lot called the end of the Dire-

......................... Nevermind, they were evidently baseless conjecture out of fear and distraught, more or less.

They will come back, it's not a matter of "if" now, it's "when."

Hopefully this at least shows that Nintendo hasn't categorically ruled out future directs.

I really miss the format.  If it wasn't for the Directs I never would have learned about niche JRPG's like Puzzles & Dragons or LBX getting localized on the 3DS this year (a lot of gaming sites didn't even post a review for LBX).  In the old days, Nintendo Power would fill me in, but nowadays the Direct is pretty much the only direct conduit between Nintendo and their fans.

I have to say by the end of the year. Since most games on the 3DS and Wii U and the Amiibos will have already released by then.

We will most likely get new videos on FexSMT, Pokken, Pikmin 4, Project treasure and English Version of Yokai Watch, Fire Emblem: if and Bravely Second. (probably missed a lot more)
