Forums - Nintendo - MercurySteam(devs behind Castlevania: Lords of Shadow) Has Been Working On A Metroid Game For Wii U And 3DS

Why would anyone want the people who killed Castlevania to work on the OTHER Metroidvania? Good riddance.

I'm glad this got cancelled! It could have been worse than Other M for fuck's sake!

I can't really understand who at Mercury Steam thought they could have success with that idea. I really can't.

That just shows how badly managed that company is.

I cant really understand comments like this. What is wrong with MerSte pitching the idea? It is not a sign of bad management... its a sign that they have ideas and they want to explore them.

So you find it normal that a company that has only made five games, with only one of them being critically well received (or two if you count Jericho, which was a mixed bag), and whose last game has been critically and financially a failure and that is having financial and staff troubles, decides by its own to make a game based on an IP from no other that Nintendo (because we all know how open minded to this kind of things Nintendo is)?

And to make things worse, they had even decided the setting and aspects of the game.

That doesn't sounds as good management to me.

Please excuse my bad English.

Currently gaming on a PC with an i5-4670k@stock (for now), 16Gb RAM 1600 MHz and a GTX 1070

Steam / Live / NNID : jonxiquet    Add me if you want, but I'm a single player gamer.

I'd rather have a Metroid game made by Nintendo themselves and not some crappy third party that made bad/average games.

It would actually be harder to make a worse game than Other M instead of making a GOTY Metroid lol.

But didn't MercurySteam make the latest Castlevania games that sucked? In that case it was a good decision by Nintendo.

Igarashi, however, should make a Metroidvaniaish Metroid game together with Nintendo SPD No. 1 (Sakamoto, the guy who made Super Metroid, Metroid Fusion and Zero Mission).

Lords of Shadow 2 wasn't bad. Just not as good as the first one.

Would you trust MercurySteam on making a Metroid game, based on the their games that you played?

I mean, LoS as a series was fairly good, and most of the changes seem to have come from Kojima rearranging it from a new IP into a Castlevania game. I'll take a mediocre-at-worst Metroid over no Metroid at all, especially after Other M.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

How is the best selling instalment of a franchise killing it?

Lords of Shadow 2 suffered from Konami deciding they don't really want to spend money making games any more and also coming to the wrong generation of consoles.

Lord of Shadow 2 suffered from being a sequel to Lords of Shadow 1. Lords of Shadow 1 killed the franshise. Lords of Shadow 2 just pissed on its grave. Selling more means shit.

Why is it always Nintendo or third party, why can't we have both?

Besides, Nintendo is too busy approving federation force over a traditional metroid (both games being pitched by next level games)

Didn't sound good. Good riddance.

Nobody said the game was cancelled.
