Forums - Sony - Sony's Attitude!

This is in response to the thread created by starcraft!

I was just wondering that since the success of the PS2 Sony became far too arrogant and self-praising, as we all know, and they seem to have reduced this a little lately!

I was just interested to know if anyone think that Sony will have learnt their lesson with the PS3:

Releasing late, High (stellar) pricetag, lack of games on release, dwindling Japanese support...

And will they take this knowledge onto the next generation (PS4) or will we see another console by Sony being over-priced and lacking games...

Did you not hear the Sony representitive on Game trailers TV, he was quite confident, but in general sony have been better

Every one keeps saying "Sony is arrogant" but honestly I've never seen it.

Well i'm speaking about the division as a whole, rather than just one PR rep! :P

I think they'll definitely check the arrogance. But next generation will be a tough call for all three competitors. None of them can innovate by copying the Wii. So are they better off copying it because everyone loved it, staying with traditional controls/graphics advances because people might get over the Wii, or trying some sort of new innovation?

starcraft - Playing Games = FUN, Talking about Games = SERIOUS

ps3's slow start was due to a year behind release and a high price tag. not the games really. look at the 360's launch. their games were pretty average. perfect dark zero was the only "good" game i remeber them having.

for the ps4, sony just needs to release it with a reasonable price tag and release it less than 6 months of the next xbox release.

then consumers will have to make a tough choice

I think that if Sony can manage to release the console close to when MS releases theirs (as Captain suggests) they will be in a much better position than they were when the PS3 released, having 10 million consoles to catch up to!

There's a HUGE difference between IDIOT PR person vs Attitude within a company.

What Sony's problem is that they were so fixated at making a perfect console, they forgot that people can't afford it yet or the fact it's a BITCH to develop games for.

Which leads to another realization, Sony depends way too much (comparing to Nintendo) on third-party support.

All of those can/will change through time, but if Sony will take anything from this gen, those are the things they need to look out for.

Soriku (Feb 10/08): In 5 years the PS3/360 will be dead.

Something I have seen in my personal life is that the people who are the most arogant are (often) the people who have found themself where they are more often due to luck than through hard work and understanding ...

I'm not saying Sony's success was entirely due to luck, but I do think that the conditions which lead to the success of the Playstation and PS2 were outside of the control of Sony executives and the things that were within the control of Sony's executives were (potentially) over valued by Sony; the end result is they believe the outcome of their actions will radically change the performance of the PS3, even though most of the conditions which would improve the performance of the PS3 are now out of their control (and thus they sound very arogant).

i dont feel the sony release their console late, i think it was microsoft that released it too early, hence the hardware issues.

yea the price tag is a big problem, but then sony is known for bringing innovative and expensive hardware into their consoles. thats why we have this 10 year promise from them.

just a lighter price would work wonders for them.
