Something I have seen in my personal life is that the people who are the most arogant are (often) the people who have found themself where they are more often due to luck than through hard work and understanding ...
I'm not saying Sony's success was entirely due to luck, but I do think that the conditions which lead to the success of the Playstation and PS2 were outside of the control of Sony executives and the things that were within the control of Sony's executives were (potentially) over valued by Sony; the end result is they believe the outcome of their actions will radically change the performance of the PS3, even though most of the conditions which would improve the performance of the PS3 are now out of their control (and thus they sound very arogant).
