Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony says it’s ‘very likely’ more remasters are coming

You do realise that they are hiring porting studios to do these?

None of the main teams are working on the remasters.

Don't you find coming to forums is like stepping into this weird alternate reality. Here we are enjoying the hell out of Rocket League, marvelling at the beauty of Journey, going crazy over the difficulty of Galek-Z, preloading Everyone's Gone To The Rapture and looking forward to Until Dawn, and there they are telling us we have nothing to play. It amuses the hell out of me how ridiculous these people sound.

My question is, what the hell are they playing?

just saying that the reason why i buy a console is not for playing the same games i already played on a console i already own.

i probbly expressed bad. but if that still makes no sense, sorry.

So buy some of the games already available. There are plenty of them.

the games that interested me to buy a ps4 were not released yet, not even a release date. ill probably buy when those games release.

meanwhile, ps3 remasters wont make me buy a ps4 earlier.

Different tastes buddy, I don't have a PS4 because I still don't find a good number of games that justifies a purchase.

Also I don't think any of the comments in this thread is saying that you have nothing to play, they are just critizicing the remasters thing.

But you said remasters will make you wait longer. Why would remasters make you wait longer if you're waiting for particular games?

backwards compatibility too hard. Lets be real, Sony's remasters are not remasters. Just resolution increased ports.

Remasters =/ remakes.

And all the remasters on PS4 have had graphics tweaks and improvements, higher and more stable framerates, gameplay tweaks and other additions. The very definition of a remaster.

If the X1's only notable exclusive was a Souls clone, well I would consider that a shitty year exclusives. But maybe fans of that game (a minority) would feel different.

Have you played Bloodborne? The style of game is largely the same, but it's far from a Souls clone. The pacing of the gameplay especially is vastly different. Also, what is with you and downplaying Bloodborne as some niche game? Nearly every games fanbase is a minority. Nearly 2/3rds of Xbox One owners didn't buy Advanced Warfare.

And isn't Sonys 2015 exclusive lineup pretty much right where MS was last year? They had Sunset Overdrive (a 3rd party exclusive) and the MCC (a collection of remasters). Sony this year has Bloodborne (a 3rd pary exclusive) and the NDC (a collection of remasters). Where were your complaints last year? Especially since it was the console you actually own that was light on exclusives.

I played some Bloodborne, at its core its very similar to past Souls games. That's the audience it primarily appeals to. Also, I'm just clarifying it takes more than that to be considered a good year of exclusives.

2014 for X1 had Titanfall, Sunset Overdrive, Forza Horizon 2, additional content for Killer Instinct AND Halo:MCC. That was a solid year for me because those have been some of my favorite games this generation. While PS4's big excluisves of 2014 was Infamous, Driveclub, and... a Last of Us remaster.

2015 for X1 has been weak for X1 exclusives, any Xbox fan will admit that. But I haven't complained much because I'm busy catching up on a backlog. Earlier I mentioned I just completed Sunset Overdrive, now I'm just a couple hours into Far Cry 4. MS saving their exclusives for the holiday has worked out fine with me given I have a lot to play already. I'm looking forward to Halo 5, Forza 6, Tomb Raider, and Gears Ultimate. Those are heavy hitters for me.

2016 however look very promising for both platforms. I'm looking forward to Uncharted 4 and SFV on PS4, but I'm not sold on Horizon yet. While on Xbox I want Quantum Break, Crackdown, Halo Wars 2. Scalebound. and perhaps other exclusives will get my attention.

i will wait longer because remasters didnt appeal me to buy a ps4 earlier than i would normally get a ps4(when the particular games come).

I am 'very likely' not buying a ps4 this gen.

So ports like GoW 3?

They need to learn from Microsoft that they should add more content in the remasters. If they don't add new content why the fuck are they making us pay 40 bucks for a game that looks pretty much the same on an older console for 20$?

Because nobody wants to pay for PlayStation Now on top of PS+.

EDIT: This is pretty much the crux of the issue. They want to push PS+ instead of true BC. If they have true BC then PS+ will be useless, and they can't milk consumers with single game remasters like GOW3.

You mean PS Now instead of PS+? Because, I can't believe them nickel and diming those smart TV buyers out of that PS3 BC. Surely should be included instead of that PS Now.
