Forums - Sony Discussion - Sony says it’s ‘very likely’ more remasters are coming

Assuming they won't remaster titles of dead franchises there isn't much left to remaster. If we're talking Sony IPs, that is.

You know, I kept a ton of sixth gen games. They were great at the time but their mechanics have become dated. Bring back some of those with an updated look and fixed mechanics (proper camera controls, trigger usage, right stick, etc) and I wouldn't have anything to complain about.

Its case by case. Sales can vary based on size of userbase, audience interest, marketing, etc.

I just played Sunet Overdrive and its pretty damn good. But it likely did poor due to both small userbase and lack of interest from the Xbox audience. The game itself is quality stuff and could have been a hit on PS4.

Now The Order could have been a multi million selling IP already... if Sony made something at par with Gears of War. Instead its found its place in obscurity and the bargain because it sucks.

Killzone and Infamous have respectable numbers on PS4 but could have performed better if Sony delivered better games.

As Ive said many times before people arent buying PS4 for its exclusives. The people buying PS4 want 3rd party multiplat games. X1 has the superior attach rate on exclusives. Again, Sony needs to make better exclusives and I expect that to happen in 2016.

All smoke and mirrors. The top selling games on either console are multiplatform games. People are choosing their consoles based on games and features that are exclusive to a console. That's no different for any of the big 3. You're always trying to trash sony with meritless claims because of your bias with MS and bitterness towards sony.

I personally don't go around trying to trash the xbox one's games or many of it's features because everyone has different tastes and preferences. Of course, I'll say that I don't like a game or a feature all the time but I respect others' perferences. I don't like several genres of games and some of those genres are the main focus of nintendo and microsoft. For me, It's not worth the price of the console or games for either one but it is for other people. I don't need to trash their choice in games/consoles to feel good about myself.

For example, I hate the sports and racing genre but I never insult anyone who likes those genres or try to discredit those games. It's just not for me but other people adore 'em. I can live with that.

You're basically going around trashing playstation on every little thing because you dislike sony. "Again, Sony needs to make better exclusives". You're completely talking out of your ass with that. PS4 exclusives are rated high on metacritic.

I'm not bitter towards Sony. I've been one of their supporters since PS1, I even have a fucking Vita. But when I'm underwhelmed by their offerings I'm gonna point it out.

If MS's only notable exclusive this year came from a 3rd party, I'm gonna flat out say MS dropped the ball. And quite frankly thats what Sony did in 2015.

I'm not trashing everything Sony does. My gripe is with their games. And if they are gonna do remasters it should never be as lazy as God of War III Remastered.

If the X1's only notable exclusive was a Souls clone, well I would consider that a shitty year exclusives. But maybe fans of that game (a minority) would feel different.

This is the result of Sony successfully courting the competitors audience. What's been there done that to us is now new to many. What they are doing is completely logical, especially when they use porting studios to do the work.

The more Sony is able to court other audiences from previous generations, the bigger the "remastered" audience becomes.

This. 40% of PS4 owners didn't have a PS3 last gen. Using VGC numbers, there are nearly as many PS4 owners who've likely never played these games, as there are Wii U owners. That's a pretty big market for games that are cheap and easy to make.

Then remaster everything.

Have you played Bloodborne? The style of game is largely the same, but it's far from a Souls clone. The pacing of the gameplay especially is vastly different. Also, what is with you and downplaying Bloodborne as some niche game? Nearly every games fanbase is a minority. Nearly 2/3rds of Xbox One owners didn't buy Advanced Warfare.

And isn't Sonys 2015 exclusive lineup pretty much right where MS was last year? They had Sunset Overdrive (a 3rd party exclusive) and the MCC (a collection of remasters). Sony this year has Bloodborne (a 3rd pary exclusive) and the NDC (a collection of remasters). Where were your complaints last year? Especially since it was the console you actually own that was light on exclusives.

Bet with Adamblaziken:

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

just saying that the reason why i buy a console is not for playing the same games i already played on a console i already own.

So buy some of the games already available. There are plenty of them.

You do realise that they are hiring porting studios to do these?

None of the main teams are working on the remasters.
