But hey, if you want to compare a game that has a marketing budget of $500 million to a game that doesn't even have a total development cost of $20 million then be my guest... You seriously can't see the flaw in your logic?

That's doesn't really matter, fact remain that those games has sold over 1 million in a user base of under 10 million...

Nintendo fans really need to burst that bubble and explore other consoles. There's more to gaming than Nintendo.

Splatoon isn't the game of the generation, game of the decade, game of the year, or even game of the month. It's a 7/10 shooter aimed at kids.

For me, Fire Emblem: Awakening currently holds that title, though I anticipate Fire Emblem: Fates, Persona 5, and Xenoblade Chronicles X have the best chance of dethroning it. My tastes aren't exactly common though.

That being said, Splatoon might be my favorite online experience this gen. I'm pleasantly surprised at how fun the online play is, and how it keeps me coming back for more.

This gen sucks.  All three consoles combined don't even equal up to the fun I was having with my 360 in 2007 ( when I entered the 7 th gen).  Boo!  And boo Splatoon.  It was fun for a couple of weeks but then I got bored.

Game of a Generation? No. Game of the Year? Might as well be nominated, but I don't think it will win it. The game has an excellent concept, no doubt, but there are definitely games out there that should be strongly considered by the impact made so far, both for GOTY and GOTG.
