You asked for new IPs, they will bring you Quantum Break and Scalebound. Both look incredibly promising to me.
Then you go on and say that if they want to make an RTS, they should use an existing IP like AoE?!
That makes zero sense to me.

In the last 10 years, how many Halo games, Gears games did we have ? And how many AoE games ? Do the maths, it will make sense (it should be something like 8, 6, and 1...). If you can't understand the difference between bringing back AoE and doing a Halo RTS...
And yes, you can let go an IP = not using it anymore. You don't have to use it again and again and again, like Nintendo with Mario. Or do you want Halo Tennis, Halo Soccer and Halo Kart too ? You can have a Xbox without Halo, it shouldn't die without it. Or maybe it would, and it's even more problematic for MS. Bungie stopped doing Halo games and MS gave the IP to another studio to make sure to milk it until it dies... (an other user has a nice comic signature about that) It's not a good thing IMO.
EDIT : The other user is ArchangelMadzz ;) And trust me, if Sony one day does an Uncharted RTS or something like that, I'll me really disappointed too.
