It should be which series needs to go a different route/original route or at least CHANGE how they have been or die. Because Assassin's Creed, at its rate, should die. But it could be even better if they changed how it works.

As much as it pains me to say, Metal Gear Solid does need to die now that Kojima is not behind it. It'll only end up being a mess with Konami milking it like there's no tomorrow.
In fact, I don't agree with some of the games on the list since I don't know most of it. What I do believe is that they should've put Metroid, Zelda, Call of Duty, Need for Speed and Battlefield on that list, along with many more.
I do agree that they have to end Assassin's Creed, Fable and Sonic since from what I've seen, they have nothing new to offer.

Hyperdemension Neptunia 9.Tales Of 8. Fable 7.The Sims 6. Soul Calibur 5. Metal Gear Solid 4. Saints Row 3. Dead Island 2. Sonic the Hedgehog 1. Assassin's Creed Obviously a list like this is gonna cause some controversy, but what say you? Do you agree? Disagree? |
10. Love the series and it has improved since the original, really excited about 4th main line entry
9. To me Xillia 1/2 were amazing and Zestiria looks great, this series has never been stronger for me.
8. The first game was the biggest let down in gaming history for me so I have no comment on the series after that.
7. I agree that Sims need a shake up as series has been side steps since 2 for me and 4 did nothing for me.
6. Solid fighter that is not over saturated at all, I am curious how VI will turn out
5. Maybe...simply becuase Kojima is gone as I do like the series and don't want it to decline.
4. This is my GTA, these games are a blast and so much fun. SR V may be a reboot after how far IV went is all I see.
3. I played the first a felt nothing, but see no need for it to die.
2. I figured this would be #1, Sonic has been frustrating, but I still hope for another Generations to come out soon.
1. Needs a break as it is more too much too soon, even every other year would do wonders to fight fatigue.
I also fully expected to be told to stop enjoying "Warriors" games as those are favorites of western journalist to pick on. I will never understand "I don't like this, so it shouldn't exist!" mentality.

But why Soul Calibur though?
I can understand why someone would say Tales, but their formula doesn't need to be fixed.
All the other I couldn't careless for.
I agree with most of these. Assassins Creed has been stale for a while now and just hasn't done enough to keep itself fresh, MGS just won't be the same without Kojima, and Fable has gone on way too long, the series started as an okay game and just got worse from there.
Bet with Adamblaziken:
I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

Unfortunately, that's what a lot of people in this thread are doing rather than thinking about it objectively.
Though I didn't mention it in my first post, I also agree about Soul Calibur. Of all the many fighting games out there, they pick one of the few that set themselves apart by being weapon based and having a ton of customization options? Bah. The series simply needs to improve after the last game, not die.
Related to that, I also think that a lot of series shouldn't be judged by one "off" entry. Even if the series is changing gears, like Gears of War (pun intended), it should be given a chance to establish that new direction.

That's complete silliness. No series needs to die completely. Even annual ones just need to take a breather and start mixing things up more. There will always be infinite room for growth in every series; it just takes the right team to make it happen and do it with the right timing.
