perhaps wii U remasters should fill the droughts.
perhaps wii U remasters should fill the droughts.
Droughts hopefully will not happen, but the only way to do that is to have better 3rd party support

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]
You'll probably get a drought every year between july and august. Most companies especially Nintendo like to release game between September and December to gain momentum for the busy holiday season.
Man, i will drink everybody tears when NX get revealed. Drougth happens and always will.
"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

If NX is really a shared platform then the next Nintendo home console should be getting some of the same titles as their handheld console, at least the first part efforts and maybe some/many of the third party releases, though I'm betting at least a few publishers will have other plans.
Will Nintendo fans be content with that? Will that be enough to entice people who aren't necessarily Nintendo fans?

/end thread right there without 3rd parties no drought can be fixed.

^^this. HD development was hard on Nintendo at the start of wii u , just like the 128 bit/3d was hard with GameCube . But when wii launched it saw few to none droughts . I think the transition from wii u to nx will be like that, they are making games faster now and should avoid super long droughts like the wii u had.
There are always droughts. Even if they plan a release schedule years in advance to stop any droughts from occuring, that still wouldn't help cause games get delayed.

When did that happen? They have a good relationship with third parties again? What was the trigger/catalyst for better relations?
Wii U droughts are specific because that were Nintendo first HD console, so those first games were first HD games for them.
Nintendo is now very familiar with HD, also they merged handheld and home console teams and If NX is really a shared platform or just one hybrid device, then majority of same games will be available on home and handheld or on hybrid device.
So NX will be in much better situation than Wii U, maybe even platform with best Nintendo support because there will no be need for separate support for handheld specific and separated support for home console specific, no more divided support.
