Forums - Gaming - Are there too many games coming out on PS4?

Every other day Sony uploads videos of newly announced games for the console:

The discussion isn't about indies but the quality of them. I've noticed they've lowered the development barrier and there are now lots of ultra low budget games coming over, the PSN is slowly turning into steam. Is this a good thing for you? From that page personally I'm not interested in any of them. I'm not gonna spend money on games like N++, Defenders of Ekro, The Swindle, Spider or Iconoclasts. It's not that I think they're not good, it's just that I'm tired of indie sidescrollers after having waves of them in the last year, so they need to be really good and unique like Shovel Knight to get me to play them. Hope they don't get become PS+ freebies.

From that page I'm only interested in the higher budget indies: Rocket League(awesome), Everybody Gone to the Rapture, Talos Principle and Submerged.

Hm, more games is never a bad thing I guess. I'm sure there's a decent amount of PSN users who are interested in the lower quality indie games.

Edit: But I agree, I'm only interested in the the higher quality indie games like Firewatch and NMS.

Well, there you go. You found some games that interest you, surely other people will be interested in other games.
That is the charm and an advantage of PS4, there is something for every taste, and I think that should continue. Quality will be rewarded.

It is not a competition, there is no need to buy every game, but the fact that there is so much choice makes me happy.

NOTE: Seems that we like and dislike same games.

Nope, never too many games. It just gives you the possibility to wait a bit for most of them, and save yourself alot of cash. No point in buying a game, until you actually have the time to play it.

I dont agree with the "more games is never a bad thing". 1. Shovelware can be a problem and 2. if bad indies with 0 production values take prominent place on the PSN and charge $10 it can devalue higher quality titles that cost the same 3. more games can make it difficult to find the good stuff (there's no things like Curators or reviews on psn)

PS2 had 10 times more games and no one complained lol. You can't have TOO many games.

@2.) Wouldn't then higher quality games that cost the same as shovelware be in a better position? "Look, I can get Rocket League for the price of Crappety Crap! SOLD!"

As others said, you can never have too many.

You. Can. Never. Have. Too. Many. Games.

More games is never a bad thing, consumers being idiots and buying everything that comes out without researching first, is a bad thing. And their penalty? Paying for a shit title.
