Then please explain (thoroughly) how the 3DS version (that has a separate development) holds back the development of the PS4 versions.

There is a lot of situtaions that can happen...

At design time (because from what I read only the graphic engine is different... everything else is the same) they want to create a feature but it won't be possible on 3DS... so they drop the feature.

Cross-gen developement is not good in any way.

If they wanted a 3DS game fine... do a entrie new game for 3DS... because when you already have the 3DS in the mind you will not expand your project to the capacibility of others plataforms no matter what you say you will be blinded.

But maybe the gamers are fine with that... I'm not.

Looks to me as if the the 3DS version was the original and they added on the PS4. So do you mean you would have rather had XI for 3DS and XII for PS4?

Dragon Quest is Dragon Quest. The only thing that anybody would want different in a PS4 version is visuals and world detail, both of which seem to be quite drastically different from the 3DS version. Nobody wants a real-time Dragon Quest (they tried with IX and got harsh feedback, forcing them back to turn-based.)

Watch the videos I posted to get an idea.

Ethomaz still not correct. 2 different versions that will likely have their own unique. 3DS has already shown a exclusive feature! Dude, the point of 2 different versions is so have to dropping featuresdoesnt become an issue.

lol

My opinion is not incorrect.

And it is not 2 different versions... ONLY the GAME ENGINE (GFX) is different... it is the same story, game, characters, etc... everything is THE SAME.

The project team is the SAME... the GAME ENGINE team is separeted... what the Project Team do will be always thinking in all versions.

How are the bolded affected by hardware? The best stories in video games I played were Xenogears and Planescape:Torment both late 5th generation games.

The general story can be the same while the specific details can be different. Ni No Kuni did this fine with an arguably larger difference between platforms, NDS vs. PS3.

OH YEAH!

The 3DS versions looks super cool! Love that 16 bit style on the 2nd screen, I´m so glad for being able to play this game next year ^^

Also very glad to see the support for NX, another reason to buy the console :)

But why buy NX for this when you can play it on 3DS and PS4?

Yes... XI for 3DS and XII for PS4/NX is a good ideia.

And people are getting the whole thing wrong... it is not 2 different games... it is the same game using different game engine.

Design/Projet team is the SAME for PS4/3DS/NX

Game engine (GFX) is assisted by Orca on PS4/NX
Game engine (GFX) is assisted by Toy Logic on 3DS

Because I don´t care about PS4 and the 3ds version is a different experience after all.

Ah well you'll be one of the few to buy an NX for this then :P

So what's the problem, even if it's "only" the game engine that's different? Have you ever played a DQ game? Nothing in classical DQ is so complex that it wouldn't be technically possible on the 3DS.

You're worrying over nothing.

Btw. it would be so fun if all the DQ game from todays event went up for pre order in Japan today as well, would really make Comg interesting again.

I can't agree with your assertion that the 3DS will hold the PS4 version back. Ni-No-Kuni shared the same story but both versions utilised the unique features/power of the platform it was on.

The PS5 Exists.
