Forums - Nintendo - Shin Megami Tensei IV has sold 600,000 copies worldwide this far! Japan budget release coming soon in celebration

Nice. Not too bad for a mainline SMT game. It's my favorite game on the 3ds along with Zelda: ALBW.

Hi

Around the Network

Would have sold even better if they'd done physical EU release :( (I'd own it then).

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Glad to see a company can be happy without having sold 100000000000000 units and "just" 600,000K

Great sales. Now get working on SMTV, hopefully for consoles.

That's good to hear

That´s awesome, now if they would translate the game to more languages it could have a chance to sell something in Europe!

I still have to pick this one, love smt atmosphere and battle system, they are great.

Congrats Atlus!

Good. Now please, make SMTV and make it a Kaneko game.

And fix IV's problems.

It's a Jrpg, so expect dialogue similar to most other Jrpgs, if you've played any.
I'm not sure if there's a skip option for the dialogue, but it's not placed in specific sections throughout the game, like it is in Fire Emblem: Awakening.
In Awakening its like this: Pre mission Dialogue > Long Battle > Post mission Dialogue > Pre mission Dialogue > Long Battle > Post mission Dialogue > and so on.
That's not the case in most rpgs. Nor is it in this particular game. There's no pattern for how the dialogue is placed. You go out on an excursion, usually to accomplish a mission, and along the way there will be many small battles, and several scenes with dialogue.
Since the game isn't as linear as Awakening, it can be hard to know where to go next if you always skip the dialogue. Luckily, this game has a Quest log that keeps track of your missions, but you can still find it confusing to know where to go at time, even if you fully read all the dialogue. They say: Go to Shibuya, but you may not know where that is. And if you skipped all the dialogue, you may have missed some clues.

As for the gameplay, personally I don't think it would be enjoyable enough on its own without any story.

Thank you! As SMT IV only is $20 (sometimes even $10) I will try it out.

what is the difference between Persona and SMT though? in terms of sales and gameplay?
