Forums - Nintendo - Nintendo Quality Of Life Patent Applications Appear Online

I'm happy with my QoL as it is, but I can see there's a big market for this, and not only for regular consumers.

Huh. It looks like a combination of a lot of the devices they did during the Wii era, but maybe mixed in with a smart phone app and a display device..

Yeah it looks like you dock your existing smartphone/tablet into the bedside device.

The projector that displays information on the roof is kinda of a cool idea. Maybe it will display things on your bedroom ceiling (like ocean waves or a night sky) that can help you fall asleep?

Im liking how Nintendo is not just focusing on the gaming market, like MS and Sony. Another example is the theme park. How all of these things can relate back to their gaming section.

Pocky Lover Boy!

I thought the donut shaped screens they ordered would be for this project. But now that I see this, with the mobile phone plugged in, that seems less likely. So maybe those round screens with a hole are for the NX afteral.

If I have the money I will buy this.

Check the link below. (note to Admins: it's not really porn please don't ban me!)

Free form LCD doesn't neccessarily have to be donught shaped. It could be any shape though I admit I'm having trouble coming up with a logical reason why a screen shaped differently would enhance the gaming experience in any way.

"It would be permissible, as an example, for the sensor information to be sound information which is detected by a microphone, or image information which is captured by a camera. The information processing system assesses the user's emotions on the basis of the sensor information. The portable terminal detects the sensor information in a period when the said portable terminal is in a standby state."

Hm.... where have I heard something like this before? And where have people raged against it?
Can't wait to see all these boycotts against QOL.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Of all of these companies Nintendo are by far the most gaming centric so I have no idea what you are talking about

If you mean non gaming products using their gaming IP well firstly do we know if QoL in any way is intergrated with their console/handheld?? Secondly Sony are making movies about their games right now.

I think their approach is going to be more like Disney's approch to their products. At Disney, their movies are their core products. A successful movie leads to theme park rides, a toyline, videogames, and many aspects of merchandising. The success of the other products will make their film franchises even more popular and successful. At NIntendo, their videogames and videogame characters will most likely continue to be the core of their company. Successful game franchises will lead to other successful products and theme park rides which in turn will make their franchises even more popular.

If this is truly what they're doing, it's actually a very good idea and I wonder why they didn't take this approch more seriously years ago.
