Forums - Gaming - Is PS4 "remasters" really remasters?

The fact that mods on VGJOKES let xbox fans run wild is why this site is laughed at everywhere else. No legit conversation here, just xbox fangirls and Niontendo fangirls. Ths site and mods are a joke. Banned on neogaf.

Um, PS4's remasters are actual remasters cause they do bring improvements to the games.

How can mirrors be real if our eyes aren't real?

So my original arguement stands, is MGS5 or GTA 5 on PC remasters?

OP you should change the title to "Are remasters remasters"

Otherwise this is obvious flamebait, and the OP keep chaning the subject.

You'd be surprise to see PS4 is the only one with remakes ( real ones making a new game and not just a graphic update) on next gen with Ratchet and Clank, FF VII R and Odin Sphere

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Tearaway is the limit between a remaster and a remake, 50% of the game is remade but 50% is also the same

Remastering means to simply make an enhanced version of an already existing piece of work. In the case of games, we're talking about enhanced ports. Yes the games are indeed improvements on the originals. Therefore, yes, they are correctly labelled when labelled remasters.

Can a late PC port be considered a remaster? Yes. I don't see why not. Can a PC version released day and date with the original and less impressive console version be considered a remaster? Depends. Was the PC version made after the console version? If so then by definition, it's a remaster. If they're made along side each other then no, it does not meet the definition. If a pc game does meet the definition, should it be referred to as a remaster? It wouldn't be wrong to do so but no one really cares to make that distinction. It's just not an interesting thing to point out. Is this a meaningful and worthwhile thing to discuss? Nope... I don't see how it is.

With the arguments you are using, you should remove the "PS4" part in the title, because it applies to every remaster out there.

Remastering refers to enhancing the quality of sound and/or picture of a video game. In a PC game, it isn't enhanced, it all has the same quality available, you just choose the settings to fit your rig.

But if you'd like, you can call late PC ports "remasters". You could also call them "demasters" if you have a crappy computer. Call them what you want.
