This is basically what people where saying about Wii U, before launch.

If it's before launch, it would have to be said about improving over the Wii. But the wii was very sucessfull, therefore people weren't saying those things about it (not to mention Wii U improved on what wii lacked anyway).

Oh, come on. The Wii's last few years where a train wreck. Do you not remember all the flack the system got. Regardless of the 100 million they sold. Think of all the problems the system had it's entire lifetime. I'm referring to this. Then all the pumped up E3 showings with EA. Right before launch.

You are asking a very interesting question, ps3-sales. One that I have asked myself several times over these past few weeks. The only answer that I could come up with is that people, for some inexplicable reason, seem to be under the impression that Nintendo learns from their mistakes and values profitability over what they consider to be "innovation".

Where these delusional views stem from can only be speculated.

I have noticed a lot of NX thread but I'd say at least half of them are about speculating what it will be and how a OS that is shared by the handheld and console will work. Not all of them are predictions that NX will be as successful as the Wii. I haven't even seen anyone claiming the NX will have sales like that. From what I've read, the few people predicting it will be successful simply say it will be and haven't even given their sale predictions for the console.

I think most fans are more excited about Nintendo making software for one OS instead of two. If these bother you like The Order thread did for me, just ignore them. Making a thread like this will just keep the discussion open.

So because there are a lot of threads about NX there is a lot of opyimism for NX? People are just curious for new hardware that's all, nothing to do with hope.

It can do well if it's both a handheld and console. But if it's just a console, then it will flop.

Well you have to understand that if Nintendo manage to hit gold once with the Wii, there is a possibility of hitting gold once again even if it is a slightly chance. Wii U is the new all time low which makes it almost unbelievable that the next console can sink even further.
