Not so immediately successful, but over a slightly longer timeframe it certainly would. It's a brilliantly accessible game and fun, and great to play with friends. It meets that essential gaming maxim of easy to learn difficult to master. And a brilliant e-sport for the pro scene. It was destined for great success regardless of PSN+. PSN+ just gave it an early boost.

Maybe but it would certainly require a significant amount of marketing.

Not really. Twitch and Youtube are doing the job nicely for it, a slower burn but a success nonetheless. Why are you so determined to make out this game would not become super popular without PSN+. It's a great game, almost guaranteed to win many sports game GOTYs this years, and maybe some brave people will give it over all GOTY. What's going to give it competition? Splatoon and Bloodborne I think would be it's toughest competition. I don't think any of the crop coming later this year will amount to GOTY material, except maybe Rise of the Tomb Raider.
