And as for who will replace him, who the hell knows? But I'll tell you one thing: it was a massive blessing for Nintendo fans and gamers everywhere, to get a guy like Iwata, a former game developer and someone who actually had a huge love and passion for gaming himself, to lead a company like Nintendo. We would be ridiculously lucky to get another such person, an ACTUAL game maker, who really understands games and gamers, and doesn't just care about that company "bottom line", a second time in a row.
I do not personally believe that Nintendo will likely ever have such a leader again. In that sense, in the game industry, as a CEO, Iwata was fairly one of a kind. He will be missed, I think, far more than people probably realize. We can only hope that whoever is chosen next, won't do something stupid, and will above all else, maintain Nintendo's identity and integrity.

It's hard to say he was a good leader when the company was bleeding money... It's not because he died that he's a saint now...
Too soon, yeah, but it will be a business man, most likely.
My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

the press release seemed to suggest that Takeda and Miyamoto are interim co-presidents of as of right now. sounds weird to me too.

Actually he died yesterday, maybe even "two days ago" considering the time difference. It just wasn't made public until tonight.
Doesn't change the tastelessness of the thread, though. Man, this is just the worst.

But he was also in charge when they had their two best selling consoles of all time, the Wii and DS. It's not because everything he made didn't fly off the shelves he wasn't a good president.
The money lost under his watch is literally nothing to the money he has made Nintendo. His presidency was a massive success as a whole.
