How would you rank the MGS games from MGS to MGS 3 and where do you think MGS4 will be in the canon of MGS games?

I'd say:

1) MGS because its the classic. Perfect in gameplay and storyline.

2) MGS: Twin Snakes, only because it updated the graphics and kept the storyline intact. Loved it.

3) MGS2: Gameplay was good-- but there was something about Raiden that I hated. Also I have like a -1 for the trainwreck they call a storyline. I don't understand it at all to this day. Too many meaningless plot twists to keep track of and WHAT? Liquid's hand takes over Ocelot? That's just stupid.

 4) MGS3: Snake Eater - I really can't say too much about this one as I was so disgusted with MGS2 and I never got around to it.

The MGS4 gameplay is in the bag-- I hope they don't mess with the tried and true formula. And I doubt the story is going to be as stupid as MGS2 so I hope-- HOPE that it will be at least better than MGS2.

 Opinions?

Oh crap, this will be hard.

Erm....

1. MGS 3
2. MGS
3. MGS 2

MGS3 is first for it's amazing ending. MGS1 is second because it started it all, and still holds up today. MGS2 comes in last, because, while it is an amazing game, it doesn't have anything extra special like the other two that makes it better than them.

MGS2 most messed up story ever, i loved it.

MGS3 was almost to realistic for MGS if that even possible.

Metal Gear Solid 1 : perfect, innovative 10/10
Metal Gear Solid 2 : lame story, nothing really new 8.5/10
Metal Gear Solid 3 : better than the second one, harder 9/10
Metal Gear Portable Ops : a complete dissapointment ( cannot understand the great reviews ) 6.5/10

MGS: Good points: best storyline got to play as solid snake, best game on ps1 bad points: not enough sneaking there seemed to be a boss battle every five minutes for example you just battle ocelot meryl opens up the cargo door in the tank hanger you go through and have to fight raven in an m1 tank all this in less than five minutes of stealth

MGS2:good points: good storyline but you have to play through it about five times to fully understand the story ,good balance of stealth and boss battles.
first game to really show off the graphical power of ps2, improved gameplay to mgs1 bad points: playing as raiden he is the worst hero in videogaming history

MGS3: good points:good storyline, best gameplay in the MGS series, good balance of stealth and boss battles, killing raiden bad points: going to 1964 dont get me wrong it was an excellent game but why couldnt they have done a sequel to mgs2 nut in a way this is a good thing because now the sequel to mgs2 mgs4 will be on ps3 in hd cell prcessor powered graphics. Impossible bosses the first two had somewhat plausible bosses ( vamp was not a
real vampire hes just addicted to blood) but mgs3 jumped off the realm off reality an electric russian colonel, a bee summoner it was imposssible, playing as big boss hes a good character but not as good as solid snake people might
say there the same but snake seems more colder and more ruthless than big
boss

overall though mgs2 is the best and if it wasnt for raiden it would be the perfect video game

MGS4 is the greatest game ever

Hard to tell :

MGS3 : I loved Subsistence ... the new camera angels helped a lot .
MGS1 : well , its MGS , and its for the first time ever
MPO : I liked the PSP version , especially the story , and the voice-acting :)
MGS2 : IMO it wasnt a big enough technology leap over the first one ...

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

My order would be:

1 - MGS 3 - this was classic and the twist towards the end was awesome.
2 - MGS - The original packed a punch for starting the story. It introduced the characters perfectly.
3 - MGS 2 - The biggest hype job ever. Everybody looking for a straight ahead sequel only to play as Snake through parts of the game. The story was good but it seems the writers got bored towards the end. "Col. what is wrong with you?"

Now Playing: Crysis 2

Last Finished: BulletStorm

Gameplay-wise:

1. MGS 2
2. MGS
3. MGS3
4. MGS PO

Explanation: MGS 2 brought many new things to the table over the original MGS gameplay wise. Once Splinter Cell was created though, the MGS gameplay started to look like Resident Evil tank controls in comparison.

Story-wise:

1. MGS
2. MGS 3
3. MGS 2
4. MGS PO

Explanation: MGS set-up the way they tell stories, so each iteration in comparison was a bit more expected to be crazy, slightly taking away from it. Kinda like M. Night Shyamalamdingdong pulling the same tricks each movie he creates, weakening the surprises in each. MGS 3 over MGS2 just because it veered a little more back into a semi-reality.

Overall:

1. MGS=10/10
2. MGS 2=9.5/10
3. MGS 3=9/10
4. MGS PO=8/10

Tag: Became a freaking mod and a complete douche, coincidentally, at the same time.

1. MGS2. How Metal Gear was supposed to be. 9/10
2. MGS. Great intro to series. 9/10
3. MGS3. Oh dear. 7/10

That Guy said:

I'd say:

1) MGS because its the classic. Perfect in gameplay and storyline.

==> ok

2) MGS: Twin Snakes, only because it updated the graphics and kept the storyline intact. Loved it.

==> I didnt like the news 3d cutscene but ok

3) MGS2: Gameplay was good-- but there was something about Raiden that I hated. Also I have like a -1 for the trainwreck they call a storyline. I don't understand it at all to this day. Too many meaningless plot twists to keep track of and WHAT? Liquid's hand takes over Ocelot? That's just stupid.

==> that is a good point but I want to say something that I have found on a major MGS internet site (unofficial MGS site) :

MGS3 SPOILING

Ocelot is the son of "The SORROW" and this guy has some psychic power (a bit like Mantis except he is able to talk to dead people and read future more than controlling people). It is possible Ocelot has some psychical power too but he is not really aware of them and not able to control them totally. That may explain Liquid is able to take the control throw his "arm".

SPOILING END

 4) MGS3: Snake Eater - I really can't say too much about this one as I was so disgusted with MGS2 and I never got around to it.

==> u should try it if you liked MGS1 because it linked to MGS1, the story is less crazy than MGS2.
The only bad point is that the background of some characters is, maybe, not enought deep. Hopefully, main characters are very good.
There is another bad point to the story but it is because Kojima wanted a "James Bond like" story and some may have appreciated "it" (u can put "her").

The MGS4 gameplay is in the bag-- I hope they don't mess with the tried and true formula. And I doubt the story is going to be as stupid as MGS2 so I hope-- HOPE that it will be at least better than MGS2.

==> I think gameplay will allow more possibilities principally during heavy fight (when u dont have to snake).
Storyshould be ok but with a LOT of surprise.
U should play MGS3 to fully understand it.
