Forums - Nintendo - Kinda starting to regret my purchase of the New 3DS

First off, let me just say that the 3DS is an amazing console with amazing games. If you do not own a 3DS and are looking to get one, then the New 3DS is a great place to start. However, this post is from someone who already owned a 3DS XL and upgraded. Now, with that out of the way, let me get on to this.

The main reason I bought a New 3DS was because of Xenoblade. I thought, "Hey, it's better to spend 40$ on the 3DS version rather than 60$-100$ on the Wii version". So instead of buying one at launch, I waited until April with the launch of Xenoblade 3D.

However, in the end, it feels like I ended up spending 240$ on a watered down port of Xenoblade instead. Yes, I still do play my New 3DS daily, but I would have rather just bought a used copy of Xenoblade on Wii for 60$ and then just keeping playing my 3DS games on my regular 3DS.

Then the other seller points aren't that big for me, stable 3D, meh, I still only use 3D every once in a while. Amiibo support, only used this in Smash 3DS, even though I could just go to the Wii u version. C-Stick, only good for camera control, doesn't work that good in other situations

So, what say you?

TL;DR: Feels like I spent 240$ for a watered down port of Xenoblade, not that many other reasons to upgrade if you own a regular 3DS

Yeah, New 3DS is pretty much useless if you have a 3DS. I bought one because my circle pad broke on my old 3DS. There really isn't much of a reason to upgrade.

XL Gold Zelda limited?

NEVER!!! Always a pleasure!

Switch!!!

Well it is just a revision so I decided not to buy one cause of that since while the upgrades seemed neat, I already had an XL so buying it for xenoblade while dolphin is still a thing didn't really push me over the edge. Also the limited editions were out of stock didn't help either

I did say it quite a few times that all the n3ds will be just a revision without any major exclusives and it looks like I was right! Least on the bright side, people that have a 3ds don't have to worry about getting fucked over

The c-stick is a big let down just like the Gamecube's gimped c-stick. Thankfully it was an easy job to switch out the c-stick's on the GCN controllers to the standard gray sticks.

-Xenoblade (that you already have on wii?)
-stable 3D (which you think is meh)
-Amiibo support for Smash 3DS (which you prefer to play on Wii U)

Yes I can understand why you would regret spending 240$ that way.

I'm not really regretting my purchase. While the port of Xenoblade is watered down compared to the original, I'm still enjoying it and the extra speed as well as c-stick for games like Smash and Monster Hunter. It's certainly not a necessary upgrade for everyone, but I'm still satisfied with what I got, especially since I upgraded from the original model.

Also getting the limited edition Monster Hunter one kinda makes me biased about it :/

I think you misunderstood me. I do not own Xenoblade on Wii, I bought the New 3DS version because it was cheaper

Also if you are looking at my current playing list I only have the Wii version there because the New 3DS version isn't in the VGChartz database

Seriously, what did you expect?

Anyhow, I'd agree that the New 3DS is a near worthless upgrade for people who already own a 3DS XL, but if you own an original 3DS (like me) or a 2DS then the N3DS is certainly well and good.

I expected more exclusives like Xenoblade 3D, but the thing has been out since October (Japan) and Xenoblade is the only semi - exclusive
