Pleasant update, but not a surprise. A few of us had said all information suggested Vita was doing better than what we had tracked here.

Don't get me wrong 12m is hardly stunning. But its nice to see.

No doubt SCEE Spain xconfirming their sales helped a bit. I'm sure Spain was way below on herebefore that.

You can see that PSP + PSV shipped just barely more than 15 million since 2012...


PSP + PSV shipment since 2012, PSP + PSV shipped 15,050,000


2012: 7,000,000
2013: 4,100,000
2014: 3,500,000
2015: 450,000



Now... if we see VGChartz, well, we have:
2012: 7,900,000 ( PSP 4.2m; PSV 3.7m )
2013: 6,200,000 ( PSP 3m; PSV 3.2m)
2014: 3,500,000 ( PSP 400K; PSV 3.1m )
2015: 530,000 ( All PSV )


We have over 18 million SOLD according to VGChartz, when we have 15 million shipped... seem too much.
Anyway. If we talk about shipped, i seriusly doubt PSV is at 12 million shipped.
We have 15m 2012+2013+2014, the PSP in 2014 has sold poor, but in 2013 was still strong, and in 2012 was selling even better than Vita in Japan...

Is also true the PSVita is at +700k ship in 2011.

Conclusion: like for XBO, is not easy know the Vita shipment, but 12 million? seem too much... over 11 million maybe.

But even if is at 12 million... we still talk about SHIPMENT.



I seriusly can't see PSVita at 12 million sold.

So, yeah, is at 99% overtracked.

That said, there is no problem, PSVita was the only console undertracked. now ALL console are overtracked, 3DS is over by 1.5 million if not 2 million, just for say... -_-

Have you taken into account shipments and sell through before that date? Because it's entirely possible for Sony to have shipped more PSP's in the early years and sold through a small amount then shipped a low amount in the later years and sell through a higher amount. 

Happens with a number of companies. 

How have you factored in that fiscal year for Sony runs April - March but VGC tracking year runs January - December when doing these calculations?

And do you know how many PSP's were on shelves before they started shipping Vita in with them?

Is for sure possible that one console sell more than what ship in a quarter or even in a year, like i said, we can't know the exatly sales.

But still, 12 million sold (not even shipped, sold) for PSVita seem extreme too much... AND YEAH, even if we can only estimate, i think we can agreed that is unlucky, you don't think? A more realistic estimate could be 11-11.5m.

For the part about PSP shipment, no. i don't know. like ioi.

A more realistic estimate based on all available data would be between 11 million and 14 million units have been shipped worldwide. 

11-14M shipped = 12.1M sold
PS Vita sales are now correct on VGChartz imo.
