Forums - Sony Discussion - Horizon explained

I'm really liking what I see with this game, I'm liking how it's a female lead I'm loving the post-post apocalyptic setting, also the fact that they've poached devs from the people who made witcher 3 and fallout really gives confidence that this will be done right.
Definitely one of my most hyped games atm.

What basic materials can block thermal vision?

Depends on what you mean buy basic. Glass can block thermal imaging sensors for example. But if you have a thinck enough shield of anything your termal signature wouldn't be visible. If I'm hiding behind 3 feet thick stone walls, you can't see me using thermal vision, not to mention if you live deep in a cave with dozens of feet of stone between you and the outside. Thermal imaging also wouldn't be too effective in warm places.

So to answer your question, stone can easily block thermal imaging sensors. You're also forgetting that these big dinos (I assume they are the dangerous predators? The antilopes didn't seem keen on fighting....) are big, so you can hide in places where they can't get.

And once again, a cave would be more than sufficient to block thermal vision.

I was just being sarcastic.

Bet with Xander XT:

I can beat more games on his 3DS than he can on my PSVita in a month. Loser has to buy the winner a game on his/her handheld Guess who won? http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=193531

Riding dinos of course. On the land and in the air i assume.

So they live in a world with robo dinos, and they're most advanced weapons are explosive arrows? How did they survive?

they didn't survive. Most of humans were killed, and others probably hide into caverns.

What makes you so sure humans are systemetically hunted down? It appears those robotic animals are driven by instinct like their flesh and bone counterparts. No Terminators and Hunter Killers waging a war of extermination against humanity.

That robot bird is ridicilous though. No way a metal skeleton of that size could fly with wings.

So how big will this open world be?

Small- infamous, Batman
Medium- GTA, Fallout 3 (and NV)
Large- Skyrim, Witcher 3

I think it's been compared to The Witcher 3, but it doesn't have any specific zones or loading times.

That's what Shinobi602 (guy who accurately leaked info about the game, like it having a redheaded female lead and the robo-dinosaurs). Herman Hulst has compared it to recent open world titles already out, so Witcher 3 would be about the most recent to when Horizon was announced.

Large, but I guess we'll see maps and proper comparisons in scale.

Personally I'm hoping there's a nice bit of density and you'll be able to explore old sky scrapers, caves and there's height as well as width to the world.

Those robotic beings are to resemble carbon based organic lifeform. Doesn't necessarily imply appendages like wings have a practical use. The "bird" could be levitated by an anti gravity drive or a simple jet engine.
